After Giffords Shooting, Several AZ Republicans Resign Amid Fears of Tea Party Violen

When did this happen to the person in the article? This man had no indication whatsoever that there was any reason to be afraid, so your questions are irrelevant and not applicable. How about you actually try and post something relevant to whats actually being discussed here?

until republicans acnowledge the atmosphere of violence will change en masse, i SEE NO REASON At this point why these people shouldn't be afraid.

Let america turn the page... own the rhetoric call it over the top, and say it will end.

that should clear up alot of these security fears.

There has to be a way forward.

Are you aware of some incidents where left-leaning activists in the Democratic Party publicly threaten to hang someone,

Yes, I am.

Threats did not need to be made to this family. The Republicans spout fear constantly, this man knows it. The fear is there whether it was spoken or not.
You know that very well.

Wait, before you get all hot and bothered, JB. I should have said the Tea Party wacktivists™ spout the fear constantly. It's out there, not being said.

Your post was in response to this question:

Are you aware of some incidents where left-leaning activists in the Democratic Party publicly threaten to hang someone,

So, who are the left-leaning activists in the Democratic Party who made these threats? Where were the threats made? Do you have a link to support your assertion (or even prove that the photos are authentic)?

I'm getting really dizzy from all your spin palemale. Did you forgot about the man arrested for threatning to kill Eric Cantor last year?

Man arrested for Eric Cantor death threat

That's not the answer to the question. Who made the threats to the black man who resigned and who made the pictures.
You are acting out what you do best and that is never having an answer to questions posed to you.

This is kind of an interesting point. It raises the issue of rational vs. irrational fear. Being afraid is something we all have experienced. Sometimes it is rational. Like getting an audit notice from the IRS. Sometimes it is irrational. Like being afraid of the dark.

Since this gentleman hasn't actually been threatened by anyone, he's afraid for no reason. His fear is irrational. Republicans haven't shot up other party officials homes, yet his wife is concerned that their home may be, so he quits. He submits to an irrational fear.

Now my fear (a rational fear by the way) is that people being, or at least saying they are afraid is going to be used to curtail free speech. Someone being scared, even irrationally, will be used as a reason to prevent an exchange of ideas. It's not all that far fetched. Just the next logical step in being PC.

Yes most likely these sort of posters are made by someone against Bush's Iraq war. So it likely could be someone you consider left.
However a acquaintance of mine who I share nothing with and talk to as little as possible has something similar on his car next to the McCain bumper sticker. I guess he would be considered pretty far right this date however his son was on the 4,433 guys that was dispatched in Fallujah west of Baghdad.
Likely of the over 32,000 service members that are now severely disabled and many walking Frankenstein (more then a few would still prefer death but thanks to modern medicine are alive minus faces, limbs, or parts of body) could sport a similar bumper sticker or feeling towards a war they didn't need to understand at first but now after the shock of its full effect will wear on them the rest of their lives consider the fact "what the hell was this?"
Meanwhile Bush is sipping a nice warm drink and writing curious George Books down in `ole Texas. If there is a place in Hell then I am sure someone is dusting a seat off keeping it warm & clean for Georgie boy... and equally there are more then a few parents, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters of all politcal divides that will gladly pay for a 1st class one way ticket for him to get that seat ASAP!

Exactly, you say it better than I. In the original post here, there wasn't a particular threat. The wife just felt the threat.
That's the fear I was talking about. It's just out there. The man is quitting to make his wife and family feel they are safer even tho they may not have been in danger to begin with.
It's the posters that are meant to be made by the left, but there isn't any proof that is true. Like vulgar_newcomer says, it could be anyone that made them. It is likely the left made them but Laika is accusing the left without proof it is true. All he has to do is show a link or say he can't prove it.

I forgot about the curtailing free speech. I hope it doesn't happen either. I get a lot of requests to sign petitions and sometimes I wonder who gets to see them and are they gonna start looking for me. It's irrational, but it comes up sometimes. It's not gonna stop me stop bitching. I feel I finally got Hutchinson to retire. I just hope we can get a good Dem to get the seat. I have a feeling no. The Dems in Texas just have a lot of apathy. I don't know what's wrong with them. The GOPpers are very strong here but there has to be a dem to take over.

That is horrible and its all Bush and his supporters fault.
People who made huge errors won't be punish but enjoy all the benefits.

Of course even though there is no threat, the fear is real enough. I was thinking about the men that signed the Declaration of Independence today. They faced a very real threat. They could have been hanged as being treasonous to the crown. But they did it because it was the right thing to do in spite of the threat.

Now we have people quit their jobs in political organizations because the simply feel afraid. I don't think that speaks well of us as a people.

I love this spin the conservatives are doing here,

Your own party is sick of this violent rhetoric. One by one, people are shaking loose and saying enough is enough.

stop living in a fantasy land and defending these people. Kick them out of your movement and tell them it's enough.

Who's defending the rhetoric? (besides Laika and the other drive-by posters)

I guess terrorism (threats) works ...

Except there were no threats.

There don't have to be threats, only the belief that there are.The next step is to manipulate people using that fear, either by making them fear more so they yield power to you, or posing as the deliverer from what is feared.

That such things even work here does not bode well for the Republic.
