Re: Your theory on why rioters destroy their own neighborhoods/city

Regarding my previous post about the piles of bricks.

I was an engineer and construction manager for almost a decade before. I know most people are not in construction so they can't tell if these piles of bricks appear out of place or not. So, let me point out something that most people don't know.

In most of these pictures, the piles of bricks are low grade gray bricks. Even in the pictures with brick sidewalks around, notice how the brick sidewalks are made of red bricks. So, we know that these bricks were put there not meant to replace or repair the sidewalk. In most of these pictures, there is no construction in site.

But let me point out something that I don't expect anyone outside of construction would know. Again, these are low grade gray bricks. Most of the time, they are not used for construction that you see. They are very cheap and weak. In construction, they are used as fillers. Say you are building a concrete pipe run from point A to point B, these bricks are used to fill in the gaps between the pipe sections as well as the pipe and the underground concrete structures. The workers would put the bricks in place and then use mortar to fill in the gaps. They are also used to hold up the pipes to the appropriate elevations before either sand or concrete is poured down to permanently hold the pipes in place.

In other words, you won't just find these bricks at any construction site. Different types of bricks serve a different purpose. So, if you see these low grade gray bricks, expect to also see excavation work being done. Or forms being built for a bigger structure. As a construction manager, I would never have my guys just put a pile of brick anywhere. Why? Because we know that people tend to use them to throw at stuff. And this is another thing I wanted to bring up. Believe it or not, construction managers are not idiots. Most people may find equipment and materials randomly placed in a construction site. But trust me they are carefully planned out by the CMs. We know that when our guys are not there people tend to wander onto construction sites and do stuff. The last thing we want is for people to have easy access to stuff like piles of bricks to throw them at our equipment and surrounding businesses. Not just bricks but other things as well. For example, equipment are strategically put in places where they are not easily stolen or damaged. Etc.

So, to me, these piles of bricks seem out of place even if there are construction going on near by. Someone purposefully put them at protest rally points. I think it is brilliant because if you're not in construction (especially in management) you wouldn't think much of it.

As to who would do such a thing. Unless there is thorough investigation, there's really no way to know who is behind ordering these bricks to be placed where they are.

Thanks for your input. I guess the question is still "Cui bono?"

I don't know who stands to gain from these bricks being used for further destruction at the protests. But any idiot can see that these piles of bricks that have conveniently appear at protest rally points across the country are a hazard. Even the police departments across the country are asking people to report sightings of these piles of bricks so they can have them removed ASAP.

My guess? White supremacists. Don't forget that by now it is well documented that white dudes dressed in all black and face covered have been smashing windows, piling wood around stores, and doing other things to incite violence and destruction and then just slip away. I very strongly suspect that these dudes are also behind the piles of bricks magically appearing at these protest rally points.

They're trying to incentivize the protestors to break into violence and loot.

And unfortunate, studies have shown that the bigger the crowd, the lower the collective IQ of the crowd would be.

Re: Your theory on why rioters destroy their own neighborhoods/city

As someone from Philadelphia, I cannot tell how not surprised what these people look like and sound like. True Philly trash is represented in these videos. I can guarantee the "one on one" they were offering to people wouldn't actually be one on one because they would actually get their ass beat. Mindful there is derogatory language used in the videos, so it isn't pretty and one picture shows a picture of a guy that got beaten up by them. Interestingly enough, you can literally see Police Officers escorting them down the block.

I don't think anyone is in support of harassing, looting, rioting to a degree that it is effecting your every day civilians. Unless one is a complete dick head that is.

terrible, saw many of these young thugs in videos are so aggressive.

As horrible as that video is, no need for the racist euphemism.

Thug is no euphemism, nor is it inherently racist.

If a man comes home from being mugged by two or three young criminals, he doesn't say "a couple of criminals caught me as I was getting in the car at Food Lion, and they took my wallet!"

He says, he was robbed by thugs in the parking lot. He says that whether they were white, black, brown or whatever.

Those looting are thugs, which is by no means limited to any race.

Calling everything racist is just weakening the discussion of actual racism. You've agreed whatever you saw in that video is horrible, yet you immediately mince words about semantics. Thugs was used in America long before there was any PC constraint on epithets, and it had no reference to race then either.

It's a deflection from the problem of actual thuggery.

And why did Police in Asheville destroy a medical centre?

Why this kind of destruction and malice?

Glenna Grant, 33, also witnessed the officers destroy water bottles and medical supplies. Grant said she and others had set up the medical center and had not planned to protest but rather provide a safe space for anyone injured during the night.

Grant said officers "hit them with shields” and took several people to the ground.

“We had eye wash, sutures, EMTs and doctors,” Grant said. “They threw several people to the ground. We were thrown, shouted at, screamed at and treated like criminals. No one resisted.”

The mayor wants to know too.

Or where they just 'dominating the battlespace' as directed by their Fuhrer?

Re: Your theory on why rioters destroy their own neighborhoods/city

Let me break it down a little bit here.

I never said thug was inherently racist, because it isn't. I am well aware of what the actual definition of thug is, but that doesn't mean it doesn't get used as a connotation towards black people. Whether you want to believe it does or not, is on you, but it does. This is not me or anyone "calling everything racist" when merely pointing out a word that people choose to use more when it comes to talking about black people.

Thugs was used in America long before there was any PC constraint on epithets, and it had no reference to race then either.

But there are people that do use it that way today, words change or people use them to describe or imply certain things over time. This is nothing new with the English language. Just because the word had nothing to do with race before doesn't mean people don't use it that way now.

I saw a few videos of Cops doing some of the destruction. Not this incident I don't believe but they're out there. I don't want to say it's crazy or unbelievable, because at this point it is, about the length Police are going through to not even budge or listen to what Protesters are trying to stay. They want things to stay the same, which is why they do these types of things to try to diminish the message.

What?

Just because I said racism wasn't inherently a part of the word Thug doesn't mean it hasn't and isn't used for Racist connotations. Is this really that hard to understand? It's getting tired arguing as if I have some misunderstanding of words when the people quoting me are the ones who seem to have a problem with understanding what I am saying.

JarodA, don't even want to touch your post because it's filled with a bunch of bullshit.

Re: Your theory on why rioters destroy their own neighborhoods/city

There are over whelming video evidence,
most of the people who destroyed buildings smashing windows without looting themselves are white young men. They caused the most damage.
