I found this while reading an article in Alternet. I'll post it after this. It claims that Ahmadinejad is reported to be resigning. I have never heard that they use magic over there to get things done.

Article history

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, who is described as 'the actual president of Iran' by allies of the country's supreme leader.

Close allies of Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have been accused of using supernatural powers to further his policies amid an increasingly bitter power struggle between him and the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Several people said to be close to the president and his chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, have been arrested in recent days and charged with being "magicians" and invoking djinns (spirits).

And here is the article about Ahmadinejad resigning. Only can hope it is true.

Breaking: Ahmadinejad Could Resign as President of Iran; Top Aides Arrested and Charged With Sorcery

Al Jazeera is reporting that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is considering stepping down:

A political dispute between Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country's supreme leader is reported to have intensified.

Ahmadinejad is said to be contemplating resigning after Heidar Moslehi, the intelligence minister he had sacked, was reinstated by Khamenei.

The president is understood to have shirked some of his duties and skipped cabinet meetings for the past ten days in anger over the decision.

Republicans are involved in sorcery and witchcraft too.

Hmm it seems Lord Voldemort had a hand in this. Quickly we must make haste to Ragnorok to search for Aslan before Moriarty finds us.

A member of Iran's parliament said today that Ahmadinejad has been given an ultimatum: accept the supreme leader's decision regarding the intelligence minister, or resign from office.

The Guardian also reports that the president was missing this past weekend at religious ceremonies at Khamenei's residence, where he was publicly criticized by the supreme leader's allies.

so the religious are taking more control of the gov't again. This is NOT such good news. IMO. They are very worried about a revolution at this point, it would seem and the clergy class are squeezing their grasp a bit tighter on the nation

Yes. Ahmadinejad may have been an arrogant, ignorant boob, but he was a power independent of the imams.

If we're lucky, the result will be that someone starts shooting imams.

Why is Khamenei so upset? He was the one who rigged the election for Ahmadinejad to win huge that day. He got what he wanted so know he can deal with it.

But ... sorcery?? Give me a break. That's pretty desperate.

^^That's what Khamenei is thinking anyway. More power to him for the split, but like said above, way back above, having the imams in charge may be worse.

One can only hope. Incidentaly, Shooting Imams would be a good name for a band.

Not in a country where most folk believe in sorcery, and the constitution and judicial system is based on the sayings of an illiterate camel-trader who started a personality cult about him talking to god, about 1300 years ago.

The sad thing is, a lot of the Iranian population are quite reasonable modern people, it's just the pigs that rule them that believe it's still about 780 AD.

I don't think "the pigs" that rule them believe it's 780 AD. Rather, they simply want the people to think that it still is and is desperate to control the populace.

No one is ever more indoctrinated than those doing the indoctrinating. They believe it alright. They actualy think this dark-age nonsense that they inflict upon what, as I said, is for the most part, and against their efforts, quite a forward thinking society, is not only good and pure, but the only way to run a country. They're fucking mental.

LOL And Bitches in Heat could open for them.

On my old laptop I had a set of links to fascinating sermons by imams over there. One was how technology is a tool of Satan that Allah permits the faithful to use, but when Islam has been victorious over the world, the only energy source will be fire.....

That, along with one where a screamer was urging all Muslims to melt their tools and make swords to strike down Jews, who are not human and must be killed with great agony, was one of my favorites.

There's always been a rift with Khamenei and Ahmadenijad. But, Khamenei preferred him to the guy running against him. (who would have forced real change)

I think Khamenei figured he could just wait until Ahmadenijad was done and then find someone to replace him. Now its clear that Khamenei is out of patience, and will do what it takes to remove Ahamadenijad.

I'm actually of split mind on this; getting rid of crazy Mahmoud can't be anything other than a good thing. But doing so, with such a clear anti-democratic religious influence, is not good for Iran or its people.

Can someone please explain to me what the Republicans have to do with this situation in Iran?

Any reason to bring that up other than partisan bickering?

This is coming from a true blue, flaming progressive lib here.

Like, really? You have to hijack threads about important international events with your sniping and bullshit?
That's just what Bob does. You learn to ignore it.

My threads are never made on topic just for this reason. Others have an opinion and is welcomed. Unless it is just truly stupid, then the mods will stop it.

Aye, you do get some right fucking charmers over there. Still the Original Ayatholla out-crazied the lot of them. Kohmaini (sp?) issued all these mad fatwas about having sex with livestock. How do you get to run a country with thoughts like that bouncing about your skull?

Since you don't understand I'll have to explain it to you.

Ahmadinejad allies charged with sorcery. Big deal since Republicans do it too.

You couldn't ignore me if you tried. ;)
