AI (Artificial Intelligence)

^ Apparently singers' voices and faces are 'borrowed' to make music, entire books are fed into computers to teach AI programs how to 'write', artwork to teach them how to 'paint', and so on.

Shades of Joshua and tic tac toe. "The only winning move is not to play.”

It's hard to make out some of the things she is saying with the combination of the accent and the machine gun delivery. If only there was a way, perhaps a kind of computer software, to translate her voice into something more legible.
Well, if it makes any difference, hubby won't watch BBC stuff. Not even Victoria on Amazon Prime. He doesn't grok the accent at all. But Dame Edna? Not much of a problem. I don't have a problem but we moved a lot when I was a kid. From California to Alabama to Texas and I was always for a few months "the kid that talks funny".

Why can't AI Video Voices (which, apparently, turn text into voice) speak English? Heck, even Stephen Hawking's antiquated computerised voice could be programmed to say 'Dumbledore' rather than 'Dumbleeder'.

To hell with AI. Bring back Stephen Hawking's speech maker!!

Why can't AI Video Voices (which, apparently, turn text into voice) speak English?
They all sound like a Texas Instruments' Speak-&-Spell, which we had back in 1980 or so.

Why do so many Instagram videos have synthesized voice overs? People have no hesitation displaying their less-than-attractive bodies and faces, but they won't record their real voice.

^ I don't do Instagram, but a lot of YouTube videos use it. It reminds me too much of Robocall spam and scams.

From what I understand, simply reads printed text and speaks it as written. At least Stephen's computer could be programmed to speak phonetically.

On the rare occasion where I need to have talking on a YouTube vid, I type it up & have my computer 'talk' it (an old program that sounds *just like* the system Stephen used).
Sometimes I have to play with the spelling of words (like spelling phonetically) to make it say things right....
(I've even wondered if what he used wasn't infact the exact same program)

But now after getting it to say what(and how) I want, I also run it through something that modifies the the audio & makes it sound a little less robotic which is an improvement over the raw "computer talk". .lol.

Stephen often talked about updating his speech program, especially when adapting his diminishing abilities, but he insisted on using his original voice programming when technology could make him sound more human and even give him a British accent. He explained that it wouldn't be the recognised voice people expected to hear from him.

AI is coming for our souls, that much is clear. But what is it doing with them? It's sure not putting them into it's 'art'.

^ They all have the same face. It's like some antimatter Aphex Twin video.

I couldn't re-locate the original clip I saw, but watch the sweater-wearing Asian girl.

How many things can you find AI did wrong in this picture

Just a quick glance, the drawer doesn't line up, the shadows under the feet and furniture.

No plant could live in that dark place, and it looks strange attached to the shelf. Besides, who would want to put a plant there? And what is that black item on the wall next to it?

Also, the exposed skin around the ankles looks strange, like it was made out of wood.

I guess that means that the cheap "AI" there is even cheaper than eventual extras.

Well, it got more ascheek curves right than so many flatless low-crack "real things" produced by mom nature or plain ordinary "artists": the failures are exactly like old same ordinary "creativity" but, oh!, it didn't serve to pay for someone's redecoration scheme... did it.
