AI (Artificial Intelligence)

James Cameron on AI from Financial Times Weekend:

"The machine could give you a plausible performance but it won't give you the quirky moment of creation that an actor gives that is particular to them and their life experience.

"Generative AI can...give you an image, but can't give you an emotion."
Sure, who could replace Chris Hemsworth or Scarlett Johansson.
And what sort of movies could be built on actors' faces being replaced by CGI masks.

I'm starting to think the ten to twenty years I may have left might be too much.

I'm impressed at how politely the little R2D2 food-delivery robots are as they navigate sidewalks with pedestrians and wait patiently at stoplights.

^ That's what AI is supposed to be: capable of doing EXACTLY what people do, but to the -nth degree and with no flesh and bones (I do not dare add "soul") involved.

Besides the issues of plagiarism that have been plaguing college campuses since the recent boom in generative AI, there are also concerns about the carbon footprint of this technology.

Same old issues, same old problems, same old greed... for new sheet balances.

One possible use for AI:

^ Since when are good-for-nothing well-connected people (many of them rather well-to-do and well-positioned before further networking) to be "replaced" by anything or anyone...

IT'S NOT ABOUT THE JOB AND THE ECONOMY, IT'S ABOUT SOCIAL STATUS, STUPIDS!

If they were truly to be "replaced", that would actually mean they would have to be "reallocated", "transplanted"... "Replacing" that sort of people is the basic definition of "communism": to judge people by what they can do, not by "who they are".

Yes, I know the Americans pride themselves in considering their economy and society as talent and effort-driven, but only as a justification of the social position they believe they already have, and need others to acknowledge: the dress-and-live-according-to-the-job-you-would-like-to-have philosphy.

Americans like to pretend they are common hard-working people, when all they do is consider themselves as aristocrats, heroes, landlords/ladies, gods/goddesses... and therefore consider "communism" anything demoting them in the real world from that superior status they hold in their own minds, and God is there only to warrant them that status, like old European kings and fascists dictators would pretend: whatever they are, is "through God's Grace".

The job, the talent and the economy... why do you think that bad managers get such huge bonus and exemption from legal liabilities (as long as they do not cross certain red lines, like Trump did)...

We are not hearing much from self-professed "comedians" fearing that AI seems a bigger threat to them than to anyone else.
