2 thoughts:

1 - AI is not a talent show, it's a popularity contest, plain and simple. If it were about talent, votes wouldn't be needed and the best person would rise to the top naturally as a result of competition and judging.

2 - The winner of these shows has to hit the recording studio asap and record whatever crappy songs have been cobbled together for them so that they've got something in stores for the fall/holiday season. The 1st runner up (and anyone else in the Top 10) has the luxury of taking their time to put together what should be (in theory) better prodfuct.

I'm not one to blindly believe that Adam lost because he was gay. Having said that I have to wonder how well he would've done if those pictures were not out there for everyone to see. If Bill O'Reilly hadn't mentioned if the country was ready for a gay idol if he hadn't cropped the pictures of Adam kissing a guy making them seem lurid and ugly. If Entertaintment weekly hadn't published a cover stating that he might be gay, and finally if the Christian right hadn't started a smear campaign over the internet.. I wonder what would have happened..

Dont be upset... they've been choosing the wrong person since Season 1 years ago. This show really should be cancelled... its just masturbation at this point.

Correction made. Kelly Clarkson was not even the most vocally talented on the first season.
