Well, I believe anything is possible so hopefully they will find out what went wrong and figure out how to fix it so we can all be HIV neg for eva!

more research is needed...research has shown that people who feel somewhat more "invinsible" tend to show riskier behaviors...so it could be presumed that since these participants knew they were participating in a HIV vaccine, they could have felt less susceptible to the virus and thus more likely to partake in risky behaviors such as unprotected sex and syringe sharing...

Yeah, it is unclear why that is so. As stated, it might be due to the behavior of the participants. It will and interesting thing to watch.

Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about here. AIDS is a drain on government resources if anything as people infected require expensive medications. As many of these are on medicaid, it is nothing of a cash cow... at least not for the US government.

The sad truth of it all is that as we produce cures, even more deadly diseases arise. Medicine is just a catch-up game.

I can't reiterate enough that the only true "vaccine" for HIV is a good head on your shoulders and safer sex practices.

I agree with Grey...Having expirienced the early 80's and first wave of the epidemic. Safe sex is the only vaccine.
Don't be fooled, even if a vaccine is found it will only protect those who have not contracted HIV.

We must appreciate the extreme difficulty of overcoming a virus caple of adapting to conventional counter-measures. It's naive for us to believe that we can behave irresponsibly and expect a convenient rescue from medical science. An effective vaccine is likely probably decades away. We have a long way to go, so let's take care of ourselves.
