Airbnb for muslims

If I opened my home...I would not discriminate against race or even religion provided they kept it to themself.....my problem would be personality traits:lol:

How would I list those?...and I would because it DOES matter...to me.

I have had temporary guests, some paying, some not, who did things like listen to Rush Limbaugh in my home, or watch the O'Reilly Factor. It was all I could do not to jerk the cord out of the wall, but I couldn't ask them to kowtow to my preferences.

The exclusion is voluntary. If one is willing to observe Halal, to dress modestly, I read that they would be welcome in some of those homes. Those who are excluded would be unwelcome as guests who were not travelers too. That is their religion and their culture.

There are certainly vegans who have made it plain that meat is taboo in their homes.

For the Muslim hosts to be causing some kind of harm or damage, non-Muslims would have to be somehow shut out of a privilege, as staying in homes instead of staying in hotels is no one's right, but a privilege extended by the owners.

Muslims can also made it plain that they don't want this don't want that without a site for Muslims ONLY.
That is why Hitchens was right yet again saying Religion Poisons everything.

LOL...I would definitely have to put that on my rather long list:rotflmao:

...and I wouldn't subject my plants to Faux News...I don't want them to die...

Actually, their site doesn't claim to be "for Muslims only." They are promoting Muslim friendly places, some of which may be exclusive to Muslims, but that is not what they are advertizing.

Unfortunately, religion hasn't poisoned everything enough, or we'd have been rid of Hitchens sooner.

Most of what is being published about this site is coming from the site's marketing efforts. The guy behind the site is a convert who lives in DC (his name is a big clue that he wasn't born into Islam). He used to be an IT guy at a not-for-profit. He did a crowd-sourcing to get $25K to start the site. It's pretty much a small startup with a trendy website.

The fact that it has the word "muz" in the site name should be a clue that it's not a big player.

But it makes for great discussion on a gay website.

What do you mean ? or really mean to say ? please be frank and not tip toeing.

IT has already been explained to you intelligently ( perhaps that is the problem) why it is important for Muslims to seek houses that are halal friendly...no pork, no alcohol ( usually no pets) and very clean, it is no different from Jews seeking Kosher homes that you dont seem to have an issue with or gay people seeking a gay friendly home. It is about them respecting ( a word you should learn) their religion and all that goes with it, you could stay at a Muslim bnb but you would have to follow the rules which are not there to upset you. As NotHardUp1 said these are not hotels but peoples homes, if you were a non-smoker would you want chain-smokers staying in your place?

I don't care what anyone says, I am offended... because that's my right! I mean really, isn't there enough in plain sight to drive anyone who cares crazy without looking for more?

I see nothing wrong with BnB that advertise as moslem friendly as there's a lot of hostility towards them out there. Catering to orthodoxy has its limits though. It's like trying Gond a restaurant to eat out at with a vegan.

Essentially I think travelers should adapt to the country they are visiting and its customs and be respectful of them. If they can't, they should stay home. Too any people travel anyway.

Translation: I'm white, I should be entitled to EVERYTHING! Even things that are created for people who are disallowed from my things, which is, again, everything!

if you are a religious freak you need to find a place that will cater to your needs---someone I know had a Bed and Breakfast ---a couple made a reservation weeks in advance---a few days before arrival they said can you make the kitchen kosher before we arrive and make a kosher breakfast--she said No. Same with Muslim eating restrictions---if I Air B&B my home I wouldn't either----I mean WTF. It's good for free enterprise capitalism for people who understand these needs to open a Bed and Breakfast or Air B&B to cater to their needs.

People not travelling and sticking with their own kind is not the solution. It is the problem. The more people visit foreign countries and are exposed to different customs, even without taking part in them, the better.

So welcome, my dear muslims! See how secular democracy works! Experience a place with a female mayor, a gay prime minister, or a porn-star banging president. Watch us eat our pork, dog meat, snails or insects. See us go skiinny dipping co-ed. Hear us debate philosophy, not recite dogma. Come, see, and be won. As your profiteer Muhammad (peace be upon his victims) himself said: "Tell me not how much you have studied, but rather tell me how far you have travelled."

Well said.

And also worth adding: See that there are better expressions of faith than the self-interested ultra-conservative sects that are popular now.

Come see all this .. then feel envious that all these wonderful freedoms are considered haram according to your religion... feel jealous that you too cannot be free ... become angry that we do not care what your prophet said about anything ...then get radicalised and fight to force the West follow your religious dictates and become just as shackled as you are.
Happy jihad. :D

^ I really do think the Muslim friendly Airbnb is a good start. They travel and are introduced to foreign culture without "The Great Satan" hung over the door. The chance of a Muslim being liberated to being a progressive, pro-Western Muslim is greater, and is a chance to be less defensive as the world views for the traveler evolve over time.

It's no guarantee, but it's encouraging change even while protecting some status quo.

Read any good Leviticus lately?

Read any good Leviticus lately?

Yes, but the difference being the application and range. The sects of Judaism that follow Levitical law strictly are few, as are the relative numbers of Jews in general to other religions. I had a close friend or two in Albuquerque who were Jewish, and they were pretty selective in their invocation or obedience to Levitical laws. In fairness, I saw a similar laxity in my Muslim friends my Freshmen year of college.

For broader application, Christianity should come to the fore for sheer numbers and the impacts on Western society. Few vestiges of Levitical law remain in the majority of Christian sects and their countries. So, whether I agree with HoodedRat's entire point or not, the West is indeed radically more open and free than the Islamic conservative countries.

Except the Airbnb website doesn't market to only whites, nor is it's host community particularly white. General slams should be backed up with substance rather than mere pique.

I don't see any lack of diversity on their first page to load when I open it. What I do see is a company marketing travel to the middle class market that has expendable income to spend on it. That not whiteness, that's income.

And I repeat my own personal travel experiences. In about a dozen or less stays, the owners have been minorities at least 3 or 4 times already. Hardly a whiteout.
