Al Jazeera Buys Current TV

If you feel uncomfortable hearing different views then I feel sorry for you.

If this was true, most of us would have left JUB a long time ago. Funny how you imply that the "85%" on JUB are uncomfortable with alternate viewpoints, yet we're the ones arguing for the necessity of foreign news sources like Al-Jazeera.

We 85-percenters don't shy away from Fox News and Brietbart out of fear, dear Jack - we shun them because they have very little credibility from frequently trying to pass off opinions as fact and lies as truth.

I think this will go over Jack's head.

I just enjoy quoting nonsense to accentuate the nonsense ..... u know ? think dog and bone ;)

Heard about this on Bill O'Reilly

Al Jazeera throwing a party for a guy who murdered a 4 yr. old Israelis child

O'Reilly is being disingenuous.

Will he also report that Rupert Murdoch is a significant shareholder in the Television Network in Saudi Arabia that regularly plays anti-semitic programming?

Watch the clip.

Here's a sideline you won't hear reported on Fox News.

Rupert Murdoch, creator and primary stakeholder of the Fox News empire, also owns 20% of the Kuwaiti-based news network Al Risala, which is essentially a Muslim Brotherhood network in the middle east.

Al Risala is run by general director Tareq Al-Suwaidan, a popular “tele-Islamist” who rails against Jews and hosts a weekly “motivational” show – urging jihad against Israel (within 1948 borders), calling for a global Islamic caliphate, and other jihadist aims.

Shareholder is one thing

Party for child killer on air ?

Has Fox done that ? I don't think I'd have missed that news

Please explain

The Television stations that Murdoch owns part of in Saudi Arabia (and Kuwait) have done essentially the same thing and worse than the Arabic al Jazeera.

The FOX nation can't have it both ways. They can't have O'Reilly 'exposing' al Jazeera and at the same time have owners like Murdoch and Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal who are essentially doing the same thing or worse with their Saudi 'News' network stories.

Being a principal shareholder confers editorial responsibility.

What it really shows though, is that soulless evil men like Murdoch don't care what the message is...as long as it sells. For the US, Murdoch knows that old white guy rage is his demographic....and in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait...it is the Wahabist jew hating tent dwellers.

O'Reilly should be talking about that.

I think this will go over Jack's head.

I never said I wouldn't watch Al Jezeera TV -- in fact, I've seen it often on Link TV.

The problem is that you and others hate an American news source and refuse to watch it. I try to look at all the news programs I can.

Is it your fear that watching news outlets like FOX will cause you to doubt your liberal beliefs?

World News Daily!!!

So it's ok to kill a 4 yo kid if you were a journalist.

Do you ever post AFTER you read the post you quote, or is it always before?

If you are a journalist, you SHOULD REPORT, AND NOT MAKE JUDGMENTS. Where is anybody talking about journalists killing children? O.o

Seriously, are you sure you're old enough to log in on this forum?

Um no, it's the fact that it is NOT a news outlet but an opinion station, and it is so predictable that watching it is pointless 9 out of 10 times. It has pre-programmed content and while it might work on impressionable young men like you, it has nowhere near the substance that it needs to actually make any thinking user here doubt his beliefs, liberal or otherwise.

Except, apparently ...

Every news page has two sides, Jack. :-)

So it's ok to kill a 4 yo kid if you were a journalist.

How does your brain work Jack?

I'm really puzzled.

It is not okay for a journalist to kill a 4 year old kid anywhere.

But journalists aren't the story. They cover the story.

It is no different than all the American journalists who have witnessed first hand the 'collateral damage' caused by bombing all over Iraq...including the deaths of thousands of innocent children...but all they can do is report. They certianly weren't on air complaining or lamenting the deaths of all the innocents when they filed their stories.

Is it your fear that watching news outlets like Al Jazeera will cause you to doubt your knee jerk reactionary beliefs?

Jack, speaking of the laughability of Fox, remember that time when they claimed it's ridiculous to bitch at Romney for his 47% video because it was "old news", done WAY BACK in May. And in the same breath they were bitchng at Obama for a video made in THE NINETIES?

Any comment on that?

So it's ok to kill a 4 yo kid if you were a journalist.

What both you and Chance harping on this gives away, Jack, is that both of you unconsciously equate and expect a news organization to be endorsing a specific political or moral agenda.

That is not what the news is supposed to be doing. It's supposed to be reporting. Your overreliance on biased right wing sources and things like Fox have won you over to the assumption that news isn't about facts, it's about a particular angle you wish to see pushed in the public discourse. And that's what you're afraid of Al Jazeera for.

Christiane Amanpour is a world-renowned journalist. She's had multiple meetings for interviews with Ahmadinejad. Does that mean she personally endorses anti-Israeli viewpoints? Of course not. She's a journalist.
