Al Gore shook down cable operators to clear this awful channel when he launched
Then Al proceeded to create and run a god awful network From Al G to Al J
Sorta in the fam
Wow, just thinking of Current TV when it was brand new...
I LOVED IT IN ITS ORIGINAL FORMAT!!!!!! Their "thing" wasn't yet entirely liberal but, instead, a LOT of viewer-generated content. That was SO very cool - just about anything could show up, even to the nth degree of über-bizarre. I was very fond of that show they used to have that showed strange and/or viral stuff from the internet. The original Current TV was a breath of fresh air, and the only channel truly TOTALLY DIFFERENT from anything else out there, to show up in recent years.
[EDIT: LET ME RETRACT THAT. ShortsHD has also shown up in recent years, and THAT is entirely different from anything else that has ever existed. A 24/7 channel of nothing but short films of all types! Very cool.]
Al G to Al J - beautiful!!
bugger? Thank you, a new word for my Aussie dictionary.
Crikey!
I like to use crikey, and even if somebody has nevesr heard the word before, it works entirely.
Oh for Fuck's sake.
Which is it?
A. The TV news media is a vast liberal conspiracy and only FOX tells its tiny audience of viewers the truth?
B. There is no liberal bias in the media at all and FOX is just bullshitting its low info demographic with the conspiracy theory?
/Thread. The handclaper comes back for the second, third, and FOURTH time in this post. Hear, hear!

I like Al Jazeera.
They are much much better and fair than Fox news.
I've never had more than abridged access to al-Jazeera, i.e. their brief news shows on Current, but I've always considered them to be one of the world's most BALANCED news sources that I'm currently aware of - certainly more so than any of the major "cable" "NEWS" stations. I don't like the idea of losing Jennifer Granholme and some of the others, but I look forward to having better access to al-Jazeera. As much as I like BBC, I also hope to get "the truth" about what's happening here in the USA, and BBC seems more Eurocentric, but it may be a function of when I happened to tune in.
This. Plenty of times now, Al Jazeera has been a better news source than many others.
Oh OK, sort of superfluous for me to quote this as well, and it rather agrees with Telstra as well, and that's all good.
