Re: Alanis- Flavors of Entanglement

An acoustic version of
Versions of Violence
is now available on itunes in the US. This is my favorite song from the album and I couldn't imagine that a stripped down version would have the power of the studio version, but it does. A brilliant song remains a brilliant song.

It is stunning and amazing. It comes from a benefit album called, Songs for Tibet - The Art of Peace and was recorded in a dressing room.

Re: Alanis- Flavors of Entanglement

I do no like the acoustic version of VOV. It's a shame cause I am a massive fan of alanis and her acoustic versions Sister Blister, A Man, Not The Doctor and Front Row all being amazing.

I hope the american word tour brings a more varried setlist.

Re: Alanis- Flavors of Entanglement

I love "Straight Jacket" it has a catchy chorus.

Re: Alanis- Flavors of Entanglement

New song "Break" B side from the FOE sessions will be released on the "In Praise Of The Vulnerable Man" single

I saw Alanis live. I'm a happier man today!

GUYS! I'm so happy... yesterday Alanis was at my town and I watched her show. I'm a fan of her since my teens and her music has been part of my life. So I had to be there, I was trembling with excitement!

She opened it with "Uninvited". I pretty much cried and had chills on that one. Then she followed with songs from Flavors of Entanglement album. My favorite "Underneath"... then "Versions of Violence"...

She also revisited "Everything", "Flinch", "Head Over Feet", "You Oughta Know". Closed the show with "Thankyou".

I was so agitated I could barely sleep after I got home! :gogirl:

Lots of gay guys and ladies together, it was cute. I was happy for them, it was refreshing even if I was alone myself with my brother.

If you have a chance to see her... and you are a fan, by all means don't waste it. If I did, I know I would regret it badly.

Love, (*8*)

Re: I saw Alanis live. I'm a happier man today!

Thats awesome... I've never seen her, even though she is from my hometown, lol.
But just this morning I bought tickets for the Elton John & Billy Joel show!! I am so excited for that!!

Re: I saw Alanis live. I'm a happier man today!

On February 12, Alanis will make a live performance here in Buenos Aires. Needless to say, I already bought the tickets!

I can't hardly wait to see her peforming the new songs from "Flavors of entanglement", which I consider to be her most brillant effort to date.

Re: I saw Alanis live. I'm a happier man today!

Is she doing the setlist with The Couch in 3 parts? My fave Alanis song, but I saw her on the Euro leg, where she didnt play it.

She was great though! Especially Uninvited and Tapes.

Awesome man! I'd love to see her live.

Glad you had a blast. :D

Thanks guys, replies appreciated. Yes I had to share the happiness everywhere. :D

And yup hunterpluto, she's doing it with parts of The Couch. The show opens with it while Alanis is still on the backstage, when she enters the first song is Uninvited, then only later goes back to The Counch. Towards the final part the show went more acoustic and we could see the staff changing some instruments (so it seems) and she sat down for some songs.

Re: I saw Alanis live. I'm a happier man today!

I was at the UK tour. Amazing show. Watching five thousand people collectively orgasm at the chord opening to 'ironic' was insane. Glad you enjoyed it. was one of the best gigs I've seen in years.

Unfortunately that happens to be her worst song. However, she did King of Pain (who a lot of people remember from 'unplugged') at the gig i went to and that was brilliant.

I miss Alanis Morissette.

I really hope that if I go insane I can be this kind of insane.

and this song makes me a hateful, angsty, lesbian.
(helps with the going through the break up...thats for sure.)

Re: I miss Alanis Morissette.

Alanis Morissette is good, but I really think she had reached her apex with [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOgpT5rEKIU&feature=channel"]'Thank You[/ame]', and the songs that came after were a bit derivative and uninspired.

Re: I miss Alanis Morissette.

Ironic is one of the most timeless songs ever written. IMHO, everything she's done in the 2000s and onward has been self-indulgent and not very memorable, with the exception of her cover of My Humps.

Re: I miss Alanis Morissette.

I think I liked her a little too much in my youth. I LOVED Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie! Now that I think of it, I think she might have been something that got me interested in meditation, songs about Buddha and enlightenment and catharsis. Between her and Smashing Pumpkins, I'm not sure which one of my teen-angst heroes I annoyed my friends and family with the most. I always admired her sincerity and maturity.

Her MTV Unplugged album is fantastic, and probably her best being that the songs aren't mired in production like much of her albums seem to be, and not trying so hard to be weird. I haven't heard much since Under Rug Swept though.

Re: I miss Alanis Morissette.

She was great in her time. By the way, what the hell was that funky shit she did with her arm during concerts?
