Haha actually didn't even know this existed... Thanks for that. I actually like the song despite my complete lack of interest in Beyoncé.

Very strange... I thought there was a firm mindset among black female singers that they not collaborate together in this day and age because they are all each other's fierce competition... I thought this was so because I never seen popular black female singers partnering up, as in a song or video. This is Beyonce's first ever collaboration with another black female singer, isn't it. Same for Alicia too, right?

Unless you consider Destiny's Child or The Dreamgirls soundtrack collaborations, yes. With Beyonce, it's not about color, it's about popularity. Remember, she teamed up with Shakira when Shakira was at the height of her popularity too. I cannot recall Alicia teaming with any female, and barely with any males.

Does Missy Elliot count, she's a singer/rapper? (twice lol)

"Just Stand Up" ft. Rihanna, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Mary J etc.

"He Still Loves Me" Angie Stone

She's worked with Alicia before for the "Ladies First Tour" also

^ Missy's a rapper; she don't count.

Yes right, I don't count those two you mentioned. But if it's solely about popularity, then why has she not teamed up with Rihanna? Rihanna has been super popular for a long time now, much popular then Shakira even at her best, and yet Beyonce hasn't done a collaboration with her. If my theory is correct, then it's because they're both black, which means it's an absolute no go, lol. I dunno, I just had that impression. Maybe she has invited Rihanna, but Rihanna refused?

Alicia Keys wrote, co-produced and provided background vocals for Christina Aguilera for the song "Impossible"... Don't know if that counts :P.

Sorry I was not referring to the black female singers collaboration, just simply the previous mention of Alicia Keys never teaming up with any female artists.

The song sounds cute and it sounds good but it didn't blow me away. Atleast it dismissed the story that they didn't like each other.

Rihanna has been popular, but she really was not receiving as much attention until Umbrella was released. However, there's another reason why Beyonce will not team with Rihanna. Your theory needs work. If your theory were correct, then Beyonce should have teamed with Christina a long time ago, but I get the feeling Beyonce does not really want to do a track with someone who could easily compete with her vocally.

It's not that serious. It was just an idea. We're not getting into a debate in every thread.

For the record... Rihanna isn't black.

She's from Barbados... Hispanic.
:lol2: She's black. Most of the Barbadian population is black. Some blacks were even taken from Barbados to be slaves in America way back when IINM.

Alicia teamed up with Angie Stone and Eve for the "Brotha" remix in 2001, and since when was Rhianna hispanic???
