I agree... i mean come on... OK, even if the rumors that she wanted 40million are true, given the ratings, she's worth it. And SO WHAT, she wanted to sign for 1 year instead of 3. Come on. If they had since they would have said, ok, we'll sign you for 1 year if you'll consider signing for a second year midway thru the next season, or something like that.
This wasn't about money.. Disney/ABC can AFFORD her. There is another side to this story, and that is Barbara Walters. IT IS HER SHOW. Rosie was completely overshadowing her, and taking control over her show. Now I don't know if Barbara agreed with anything she stated, like the 9/11 conspiracy and etc. But she surely didn't want to be associated with someone like Rosie O'Donnell. Just by her body language you can see she disliked her.
So no.. this wasn't about money. But it ultimately would turn into one. I think anyone can read between the lines This was all about power and control. I actually read a rumor somewhere.. that Disney/ABC wanted to buy Barbara out of her contract, and give the show to Rosie. I think it was a choice between Rosie/or Barbara Walters, because there was NO WAY those two could stay another year together. I predicted back in December that it was going to be either Rosie or Barbara leaving next year.. and I was RIGHT
Would Disney wanted her to stay.. HELL YEAH. And they would have gladly paid her that kind of cash. As long as she is bringing in the cash, they could care less what Rosie O'Donnell says on The View. So when you put the pieces together you pretty much come to an accurate conclusion on what really happened behind the scenes.
