I agree with you about that, too. I've been an All My Children watcher for 20 years this year, and a GH watcher for ten years. 1999, as a matter of fact. The Mob storyline was still there, but wasn't as heavy. Now its the whole show and the same storyline. Sonny gets the latest whore in town pregnant, she loses the baby, Sonny whines about it being the curse of being in the Mob. THEN WEAR A CONDOM YOU FUCKTARD! The dude's lost, like, what -- six children or something in the last decade? Judge Judy is definitely more entertaining -- watching her make fools out of those people.

All My Children is being written by the dude who wrote Melrose Place and Models Inc. so no wonder why it's turning trashy and incestuous. He also was co-writing General Hospital back when Georgie and Maxie were both having crushes on their cousin Lucas -- and when Skye and Ned became a couple after finding out they weren't cousins. I think this guy must have a cousin or aunt he'd like to fuck hard and compensates for it by writing all of these incestuous crushes.

Sign of the times: Daytime soaps are dying!

Guiding Light was 2009's sacrificial lamb…and it was on the chopping block for years. Now there's talk CBS will also do away by next year with As the World Turns.

Speculation turning to ABC, some think relocating production of All My Children from New York (where it has taped since it debuted in 1970) to Los Angeles is the network's support for the nearly 40-year-old serial. And that leaving One Life to Live (which, with ATWT, will be one of two remaining soaps taping in the Big Apple) is a vote of less confidence.

I'm frankly tired and not wanting to continue with keeping score.

Regarding AMC's Ryan and Erica: It's lazy writing. So many of the figures on daytime dramas have no purpose, no sustenance, and it gives me reason enough to refrain from tuning in.

I have watched AMC off and on for more years than I care to mention. I have recently been watching it daily, since, well since I have nothing better to do. But, the Ryan & Erica thing is a bit far fetched. They look good together and the whole family triangle is a bit weird.
As for Gay characters ... check out One Life To Live. They have rellly been hitting the Gay issue hard over the past few month. Dealing with a cop who had to face coming out to his parents. Pretty heavy. I think they played more with the homophobic father sterotype rather well. And Dorian Lord ... well what a pompas Ass. She is screaming for Gay Rights while running for Mayor ... but she is more transparent than plastic wrap.
I know it's all just a crappy soap, but at least they are bringing the subject more into the limelight.

Erica/Susan is still a beautiful woman and I'd bet she could still attract a much younger man in real life if she wanted. Nothing wrong or disgusting about older/younger...in fact it's my preference in gay porn/RL.

The "cougar" theme seems to be the hot trend these days for tv shows/storylines...Accidentally on Purpose with Jenna Elfman and Cougartown with Courtney Cox, and there was even a stupid dating show called The Cougar with an older woman looking for love with all younger men (and it's always been acceptable in reverse for older men/younger women.) No surprise the soaps would follow suit. I'm just a bit turned off that they all just seem to be jumping on the bandwagon with the cougar idea...it's being overdone to the point of being nauseating...that's the disgusting part.

Soaps have been doing cougar storylines for years. They were once referred to as "May/December" romances but somehow "cougar" became en vogue.
