Amusing observation I just made , related to earlier idea that masculinity and homosexuality aree two very different things , that we may socially-culturally have overcome the persecution of homosexuality but masculinity is still a major issue and victimizes all men straight or gay . I refer totally to North Americans , would like to think just an older generation , no idea . Relevant lyric of an 80s song referring I suppose to high school dances , " all the girls want to dance and none of the boys do" . Are gay men just the subset of all men that can dance ? I bet you can dance , and I cannot imagine GW Bush dancing .

I do not refer to "some" but "most" . A tendency not an irrevocable law of nature . I bet that the number of male Jub members who can dance is considerably more than a average random group of men . You probably can dance , could your father ?

I don't want to bring race into this but is this a white person thing?

Because most black, West indian, Hispanic men can dance.

It's apart of our culture(s)

If you ever been to a Jamaican party ever single man is in there wining up on girl

But I do think the dudes who be having dance offs in the middle of the club be a lil fruity to me hahaha

I went to a Jamaican wedding the other week... I don't think a single person danced

but these weren't the "relax and smoke pot" Jamaicans, these were the "god hates fags, stone all the gays" Jamaicans and all they played was gospel music.

lol@ relax and smoke pot. But yeah most jamaicans are christians and play Gospel music over Bob Marley. And will rather drink white rum than smoke weed

And you went to a Christian oriented Wedding that doesn't count as a bashment lol

Homothug

it is totally a race-culture thing . The only type of dancing white people ever contributed to the world is the military march , the waltz and Welsh clog-dancing . I think historically our culture is the conflict between two extremes , best personified by Buddy Holly and Jimi Hendrix . George Bush is perfectly Buddy Holly . He could never wear leather pants . And the 60s and rock : white people trying to sound like black whorehouse performers in the 20s . "Rock" is itself a Southern Black term . Saved us from clog-dancing .

^^^ I wish I can read sarcasm cuz I'm not sure if you're serious.

I was trying to state that in specific cultures and what not, men (gay or straight) are known to dance.

Don't women say "if a guy is a good dancer that means he's a good lover (in bed)"

Anyway I do know a gay guy that doesn't have a lick of rhythm (horrible dancer) but I havent seen every guy I know dance

Bob Marley . We must remember that the whole Rasta thing is fundamentalist Christian and violent ( despite the pot ) and Jamaica is one of the few countries where any gay act is a punishable crime .In Jamaica we would all be in jail . Time online article The Most Homophobic Place on Earth?

I'm Jamaican I know all that shit and Rasta religion or culture differs from Christianity in many ways.

But pretty much ALL Jamaican men dance in events of BBQs, kids parties everything but Weddings and and some babyshowers(even though those are known for excuse parties also) because they can't play Mavodo in settings like that.

You ever been in Jamaica and see them bury the dead. everybody in attendence is dancing while they are carrying the casket. Like I said dance is pretty cultural especially since music and dance go together.

That is all I'm saying it's pretty inacurate to think all gay guys can dance or it's masculine for men to not dance because if you have been exposed to different North American cultures you will know that is not true.

If you go to a party and you dance with a girl you increase your chances of fucking that night

Edit

And I wasn't really really referencing places like the caribean but alot of Americans are decendants from DR,Pr, Trininad, etc and and they keep those cultural activities alive

I am a white male, growing up I heard the music and just let my body feel the beat. I became a very good dancer, some of my friends, would say, you dance great you must be part Ni...... later on some of them were not my friends anymore. I had an older sister and she would want me to help practice, so maybe thats where it came from. I know one thing it helps me get a lotta looks in clubs and party's.

Gay dancing is very different from other forms of dancing.

I am Indian and I must dance. Whether I can dance or not, that's not the question. It's a culture thing. At weddings, birthdays, funerals...

But as a gay man, I can't dance and I won't. There is normal dancing and there is gay dancing. Gay dancing is basically highly exaggerated hip and chest thrusts that are accompanied with rip-off Britney or Lady Gaga or Beyonce dance steps. You can see it in all the gay clubs. There is always that one twink in the club that thinks he is the shit.
