I've found that during sex if my boyfriend uses lube there is an intense burning sensation that occurs in my rectal area. This feeling doesn't occur if no lube is used at all. Obviously sex is a bit easier when lube is involved provided this intense burning sensation does not occur. I thought at first it was because it was a lube that had a warming affect but then when switching to a lube that did not have that affect the burning still occurs. Is it possible to be allergic to lube and cause you to feel burning? What should I be using instead. I'm not sure if the lube is water based or some other kind. Any advice on what to use??

What kind of lube are you using? Do you know if you might be allergic to latex?

Try another lube. I'm a big fan of ID, but find something that works for you.

Also, do not use condoms that have spermicide. It can irritate the anal cavity.

I have heard of people being irritated by astroglide.

The best lube I've found so far is called Surgilube.
I buy it at the local Rite Aid store.
Its very slippery and is water soluble.
Most physicians use it in this area so I figure it must be
safe.

Sounds to me like it is not going to be the bf's choice.
You must simply try a lot of combinations until you find something
that gets the job done without an allergic response by your anus.
Good luck. I do like the idea of Surgilube. Or could he use precum?
Either yours or his?

if you have a water based lube (look at the bottle) try a silicone based.

also try not to use lubes that contain some kind of perfume

I think KY should work best, although I think it can be diluted with a bit of water. I make my own lube from glycerin suppositories. I put a few of them in a pyrex measuring cup, add water, and microwave until the suppositories are melted. It's very similar to KY and a lot cheaper. I store it in a plastic squeeze bottle.

I have a problem with an allergic reaction to some condoms, and I'm not sure why.

I tried a silicone based and I think that solved the problem. Not sure why water based was so bad for me. Thanks so much everyone.
