Too many movies put emphasis on losing virginity.

My advice : stop watching shitty movies and stop buying into the peer pressure of losing your virginity. I know so many people who lost theirs in their 20s. So many young people lie about losing their virginities too .


In other words : Don't think about it or try too hard, but if you are going to dwell on it constantly you are going to unconciously act like a desperate virgin and then nobody's going to want to bite.

I'm almost 20 and I'm still a virgin. Most of my friends are straight (there's the occasional lesbian and the one bisexual), so that puts a little damper on the meeting gay people department.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I'm 22 and I was a virgin until I was 19, when I moved from the small town to the big city far away for Uni. I was so horny and sexually frustrated, there was just no other openly gay people around for me to fool around with. It really sucked and messed with my self confidence a lot, which I now realize was total bullshit! I was a great looking kid back then and still am, so I don't know why it messed with me so much. As soon as I moved, everything changed. EVERYTHING. I found out I was "hot". Guys wanted to sleep with me - lots of them. Gay guys are mostly nice to me. Etc. It took me a while to figure it all out.

So, no, it's not wrong to be a virgin until then - it's out of your control, it's a matter of circumstance, it doesn't necessarily reflect anything about you.

As for when to lose it... well, I lost it in a hook up/fuck buddy thing when I moved to the city, because I was too horny to wait with someone special. It never bothered me. And chances are by the time you meet someone special, they won't be a virgin either. Although, I was a strict top, and held on to my butt-virginity until I met my first serious bf, since he was more of a top too. Anyways, it doesn't matter. Also, it's not like when you're in Uni, everyone knows your history.. they don't know you're a virgin. I'm not saying you should lie about it, but your sex life is really only the business of the people you're sleeping with.

I went to the university still a virgin. It's totally fine and normal. I lost it within about 2 months, and I can think off the top of my head of six friends gay and straight who did exactly the same thing, and I'm sure I know more, so I think losing it early in your university career is a pretty common experience, especially if you had overbearing parents like I did, or if you live in a small town like the guy I lost it with did. Trust me, wherever you go to uni, you'll have a pretty decent selection of people to choose from, whereas if you jump the gun and do it now, you might have to settle for some ugly old pervert or something.

So, in summary:

1. No, don't rush it. You don't have to wait for the love of your life, but just wait for someone you feel some kind of spark with, so you aren't just doing it to get out of the way.
2. Yeah, 19 isn't that old.
3. Yeah, probably as many people are virgins when they get to Uni as are not.
