ALmost Christmassy Here.

My mom used to splurge on boxes of satsumas for my brother and I, during the holidays. I still love them.

Re: Almost Christmassy Here.

When I was growing up my mom always bought tangerines, mixed nuts in the shell, ribbon candy, egg nog and boiled custard. I also remember coloring in those BIG COLORING BOOK Chrismas activity books and decorating the tree with my older sister. Back then (the Sixties) there was not the profusion of Christmas specials as there are now, but I remember watching the Reginald Owen version of "A Christmas Carol" and "Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates" which our local television station would air sometime around Christmas. Other movies they would show might be "Holiday Inn" and "The Bells of St. Marys." On New Years Old, it was traditional for the 10:30 movie to show "It's A Wonderful Life." Rudolph, Charlie Brown, and Frosty would come along a few years later...

The family across the street had bought an aluminum tree that had a color wheel that set on the floor with a light shining on the tree. The wheel would slowly turn and the aluminum branches would slowly changed color - blue, green, red, gold. We thought it was the neatest thing... what can I say? We were just two little kids growing up in the Sixties...

I'll be putting up my tiny tree and Santa's villiage this week, I suppose. That's about it for my Christmas celebrations.

we had our first +40C (42C=107F) day so its beginning to feel like christmas here :D

I suppose that bowls of tangerines and hard candy will always make me think of Christmas!

I love ribbon candy. I haven't seen it for years. It always was the first sign of christmas for me.
