Am I alone in thinking beards are gross?

I find many younger guys find beards gross, because they grew up in the "shaved body" period of bodybuilding, therefore having any hair on the body or face detracts in some way.
I have the opposite perspective, being much older: I'm not keen on the "plucked chicken" look so many guys sport (body and face) to show definition in their muscles, but it even extends to facial hair. It's a very recent phenomenon, as anyone who has looked at gay culture in the '70s 80s and even 90s saw that guys had facial hair (although less in the 90s). It was pretty common in the 60s for guys to have hair (most rock groups had one member with a beard). I found it added a masculinity to the face.

I think you are right. Both bf and I shave all over.

Beards are the male equivalent of women leaving their hair going gray: it allows you to appear ten years older than you are.

I'm in the undecided camp where facial hair is concerned but a man who smelled of pencil shavings would be hard to resist.

Thanks, I missed when it was said in the title of the thread and the false claim that people had shit in their beards.

Troll thread confirmed?

Thank you for the correction.

I still don't find beards attractive at all and am actually grossed out by them.

So you'll appreciate that so many others are so utterly repulsed by completely hairless guys that it makes them throw up in their mouths a little.

By the way, do you want to know some other places on the human body where you are likely to have your face during sex and that have 'faecal' bacteria present....?

That may be true where you live, but not in Europe. Actually, overthere beards are currently quite fashionable among the youngish (aged 25-35) and a passed fad among the young (under 21). But the style of beards en vogue overthere are really unkept.

Much anger in you I sense.

I have to say that while it was fun...I am so glad that my Movember beard comes off in a few days.

Never heard of Movember before.

I've done the no-shave November thing for two years now, though this year for my mom's sake I shaved before we went out for Thanksgiving dinner. I went with the "Time-to-trim Tuesday" option so it didn't get ugly, though.

I encountered that reaction not too long ago at a swimming hole. I was in the buff, as usual, and some college-age girls showed up and settled in at the other end of the spot. When two guys their age showed up and peeled down, revealing hairless bodies, the girls migrated to my end. Their reason? If they were going to be near naked males, they wanted to be by ones that actually looked like men, not ones who looked like little boys! One commented that to her, guys who shaved everything must be afraid to grow up so they tried to keep looking like they hadn't reached puberty.

I agreed that was a reasonable notion.

Not at all.....just pointing out that since your dislike of beards is purely subjective and not defensible for the reasons given in the specious 'study' presented in the OP...you will completely understand why some guys also recoil at the sight of grown men plucked and shaved as smooth as a prepubescent. Or looking like the underbelly of a scaled halibut.

Gross is all in the eye of the beholder.

But next time you have your face planted down there in a guy's taint.....guess what I bet you'll find present on the skin?
