No Animated GIFs am I at risk for HIV infection?

I had protected anal sex almost 5-6 months ago with an ex of mine. Yes we did use a condom. I noticed that some of his pre-cum did get on my stomach where I didn't know I had psoriasis or dermatitis on. It was not a huge area of the psoriasis or dermatitis it was very small. The precum may have just gotten near it I am not sure?

My skin was not bleeding and no I did not intentionally put his precum there or rub it in, etc. it wasnt until later after sex when I was taking a hot shower that I noticed it there. Am I at risk for HIV infection at all? I know it's easy to get other STDs even herpes or HPV from skin to skin contact even if a condom is used but I am asking about HIV only.

I am asking since I am not sure if my ex is HIV+ or not. I also no longer have contact with him at all so even if he did get tested I would not know what the results are.

Whenever we had anal sex I would be the active/top, condoms were used, and other than that he would just give me oral sex or I would kiss him and we would masturbate together I know that those sex acts are low/zero risk for HIV infection.

OK. I did call a gay male friend and asked him about this. He said that I am probably fine. That it's not as risky as unprotected vaginal or anal sex, swallowing cum, or fluid exchange into an open cut or blood to blood contact, and he said that I should just get tested at the 6 month mark and that there's no real need to rush out and get tested.

The only way you will have peace of mind is to get tested- an HIV test should resolve the issue. If it's been 5-6 months, it is past time for you to get tested. OK I have been getting tested yearly ever since I became sexually active with women first at 19. Do I have to wait for it to be 6 months in order for the HIV test to be accurate?

I do get tested for other STDs when I get checked.

I mentioned this in another recent thread: If you have the newest test- called a "combo" or "4th generation" test, you only need to test one time. It is considered accurate within 3-4 weeks of the last exposure.

OK I have never heard of that test, or taken it.

Usually when I get tested for HIV they just do it as a part of yearly bloodwork for a checkup.

OK. I got tested and I am HIV neg.

I used a saliva test that I easily purchased otc at a local store.

I liked how cheap it was, how I could do the test at home, how I did not have to give a blood sample, and how I got the test results in 20-30 mins and did not have to wait 2 weeks like with a blood test.

I did not go to a clinic or free STD/HIV testing place since I have been to those and I do not find the people who work in them who are so called "medical professionals" to be that professional and some can be judgmental.

What I described in my original post happened well over 8 months ago. I was last with my ex partner 5-6 months ago.

I have not had sex with anyone else besides my ex.

Since it was not exactly 6 months does this mean I have to get tested again next month? Or would that be pointless?

No, there is no need to have another HIV test if you have not had sex with a partner in more than 3 months. The oral test results are accurate enough at 3 months that no repeat test is needed.

If you haven't been tested for other STDs like gonorrhea and syphilis since your last encounter, it is something that you should get tested for- particularly if you decide to be sexually active again.

When I see a doctor I will get tested for Syphilis and other STDs, including Hepatitis C as that is what I do when I am sexually active.

Sometimes I will go for years without a sexual partner.

I remember when the saliva HIV tests came out years ago at first people thought they were not as effective but now they have been proven to be just as effective as a blood test, right?

I like how I can easily buy one over the counter, it's not as expensive as a blood test through my doctor is, or a HIV blood home test kit where you mail in a blood sample to a lab, and I do not go to STD/HIV clinics since I have been judged by the so called medical professionals who work there. Plus I liked how instead of 2 weeks or a few days, the saliva test only takes 20-30 mins.

When I have been tested before through a doctor with bloodwork the result did not come back that day or the next day, or at least not to me. But I was also getting routine bloodwork done where they would check various things like cholesterol, or other things, and sometimes if I am sexually active I get tested for Syphilis, Hep C, and other STDs so those take more than one day to test for I guess?

Not sure- a blood test would be recommended for a positive saliva screen, otherwise what is the point of wasting time/money on a saliva test if a negative screen required a blood test? You might as well skip the saliva test and just get a blood test to begin with.
