I was on Grindr just now talking to a guy in my area whose profile at one time originally stated that he was 18 or 19 years old.

However, during our chat when i asked him to remind me how old he was he said 17!

I am pretty worried as I sent pics of myself when I was under the impression that he was at the very least 18 years old. Esp. given that his profile originally stated like 19 and Grindr's ToS which requires users to be 18.

I told him after I found out that he shouldn't be on there and that I thought I shouldn't be talking to him.

I am seriously considering reporting him as an underage user out of genuine concern, but I am afraid it will backfire on me since I sent him..umm..uncensored pics. :/

What should I do?

A friend of mine had sex with a girl who is underage. He skated on statutory rape charges because he provided myspace chats where she lied about her age. report him, if someone else did or he's caught and you're found to be someone who knew of his age and did nothing it makes you look way worse than reporting him would.

and do I need to tell you to be more careful next time? sending gratuitous pictures to someone you don't know can backfire in 18 kazillion different ways.

Report him IMMEDIATELY!!

And as Karen so wisely put it, no pictures ever again.

Do you think I could get in trouble with them or the law since I send nude pics to him even though I didn't know he was underage at the time?

What you did was an accident. He lied to grindr and to you. As soon as you discovered this you closed down communications and have nothing to fear. Not reporting him could look suspicious, though. Especially in light of the fact that you did send him, apparently, nude pics (although you were unwilling to actually say such). You should have reported him immediately once you discovered his deceit. What happens when the next individual he lies to does report him and they find the images you sent him..... They're going to want to know why you didn't report him, maybe even wonder if you attempted to contact him OFFLINE.

I can understand not immediately reporting him, you didn't want to "become involved", but the problem is from the first time the two of you had contact you became involved and it would be better for you that it is documented that you weren't condoning his actions. Then again, maybe 17 is legal in your area? If so the only issue is that he was ua for grindr and not for contact. Otherwise reporting him as soon as possible is evidence that you ended the convo because you discovered he was ua. Believe it or not there have been a few kids who have attempted to do similar here on JUB.

That site has US Federal Agents trolling for underage. It's in the FBI watch list. Avoid.

If nothing else learn not to send out face pics to anyone at any time

Yes I did send him nude pics which is exactly why I am afriad of getting in trouble.

Which is why you should have reported him immediately. Waiting only makes you look suspicious, as if you knew beforehand that he wasn't legal but didn't much care until he openly said it.

Well I reported him this morning after I woke up

His profile was blank at the time of my latest conversation with and I can't remember his earlier user names. I give the Grindr as much information as I could. Even though he appears to have blocked me or deleted his profile after I found out his true age.

There was gay guy on Grindr who was 17 and he lied and said he was 18 so i reported him and they deleted his profile. But im sure hes going to make another account

Yeah, he probably figured you were going to report him so he dropped it. He's probably making another account so be careful.

That is why people need to be careful. Don't just assume that they are legal, ask a few questions before sending any nude pics. Get to know them first. Not just because they may be underage..... If we don't know who they really are how can we be sure our images are safe with them and wont be thrown back in our faces? Or posting them all over the internet where anyone (even potential future bosses) might see.....

I have an acquaintance who just spent several years in Federal prison for possessing child pornography. He said it was his roommates. Sad for him the Feds had hacked his webcam and had pics of him looking at the stuff. Be very careful.

Why would anyone spend even a minute on that crap site. Better make sure you have robust anti-virus too.

That's what one gets for collecting child porn.
