Yes, since 1992. So any toy gun in a store is going to have that.
.

WTF is the matter with everyone these days?
actually since the Federal Energy Management Improvement Act of 1988 (PL 100-615)

The toy in question was a Crossman MK-177 air rifle, which has no orange safety tip (presumably because it can shoot BBs).

Telstra, don't you have a YouTube video to be commenting on?
I was inferring that your comments here are at Stupidity Level: YouTube.Don't you take vitamin first before writing ?
Beacuse America is so stupid it refuses to curb the right to bear arms. Therefore every dickhead has to be assumed to be armed and the Police have to assume they are being threatened with a live weapon

The 911 caller was a racist white guy who put things out of proportions, and it's all his fault. The victim was shopping while black. I'm not joking this shit isn't anything new.
More people have been killed by guns since 1968 in the U.S. up until today than in every war since the revolutionary war over 1,384,000
Guns belong on the hands of the police, military and those that hunt legally. This citizen will never live in the States again. In England guns were banned after a 1996 school shooting and it worked. One of the students in the class was Andy Murray of tennis fame.
On the other hand, if by "local militia" you mean state run National Guard units, I'm OK with that. There are a few scenarios where this equipment being deployed on the streets might be helpful, like if we're under an attack of some kind.
Under attack by whom?
The Canadians would ask permission before invading.
Mexico has been intentionally porous from the Government forever - Obama's bringing them in by the buss loads.
Space Aliens? Ineffective.
Dirty bombs, terrorists, hijacked planes or anguished unloved sniper teenagers in shopping malls and college campuses? Often over before the police even arrive.
Other than the government wanting some way of controlling Americans, what possible reason is there to arm police with military weapons?
Totally agree.More people have been killed by guns since 1968 in the U.S. up until today than in every war since the revolutionary war over 1,384,000

The problem here was twofold:
1) The police were too eager to accept the authority of a 911 caller who identified himself as an ex-marine and an authority on firearms.
2) The suspect was shopping while black
The behavior of the 911 caller, Ronald Richie, was bizarre. Richie claimed Mr. Crawford to be threatening shoppers with an automatic rifle, but he also claimed during the 911 call that he and his wife were pursuing the suspect through the store. Ronald Richie's wife is too fat to walk, so she was using one of those electric scooters Walmart provides for such purposes. Richie thought their lives were in danger, yet he let his wife pursue a dangerous man through the aisles of Walmart on an electric scooter???
This incident seems to be yet another sad example of racism in America. The Richies felt threatened because the man was young and black. Virtually none of the other shoppers in Walmart saw anything amiss. The only 911 call to the police that night came from the Richies.
The police, in turn, assumed the suspect to be up to no good. He was, after all, a young black man. Of course he was out to kill somebody!
