It's the finals and there's still no thread for this season?

Personally I find it dry compared to last year and I don't like that the judges get to pick who goes home tonight.

Yeah I don't like the judges picking it either but I have to say, I think EVERYTHING went right tonight. The right girls in the Bottom 3, the right guys in the Bottom 3, and the judges making the right decision in sending Pillsbury Do-Re-Mi home instead of the far more interesting Elise (I really thought the "judges" would go the other way and give me my first reason to hate them this season).

Oh and I guess we're just going to have Jimmy be "the bad guy" and give ACTUAL criticism of the contestants on Results Night now, when it can't affect the voting? Is that Nigel's way of addressing the need for genuine feedback but still keeping his new Care Bears format for the live shows? I can't stand Jimmy, but if he's willing to call out a bad performance, GET THAT MAN BEHIND THE JUDGES TABLE!

Seriously, the three of them are so useless now they're actually boring. I find myself taking a bathroom break or doing my chores after each performance while they're talking. In the past (with Simon) the judges' feedback was the climax of a great/awful performance. You couldn't wait to hear what they'd say, and you'd look for the longer time stamps on youtube so you could see the performance with the judge's critiques. But now, the judges are anticlimactic and I never really listen/look for them anymore.

Also Jessica is so clearly the best this season. It will be sad when she loses to Phillip Phillips. Y’all know it’s coming, don’t act like you don’t! We’ve been here before with this show. Infinitely More Talented Female loses to Attractive Male Who Can Kinda Sorta Sing every time now on Idol thanks to teen girls power-texting. Jessica is playing for second place.

"I want two girls in the finals" or whatever the fuck J-Lo said the other night was a desperate plea to America but GIRRRRL PLEASE that ain't happening (neither is "goosies" so stop trying to make it happen). For godsakes we had Haley and Pia last year and even they couldn't eek out an all-girl finals over Kermit and Miss Piggy.

It's going to be Phillip vs Jessica (with Phillip winning) and Jessica will just be lucky if she doesn't lose her spot to Colton or some bullshit.

Yeah I can't stand the judges anymore. Steven Tyler is useless, all he can say that it was beautiful. Think of some more words to stay. I find myself fast forwarding through the judges' comments most of the time.

This season once again lowers the bar.

The judges are all useless. Watching Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez do the same lip poke over the same hideous performance gets old.

They did a horrible job picking a top 24 (sorry, 25) and proved they should have no say once that is done.

The show is even desperate enough to run a story on the girl that passed out and fell off stage in a Soap Opera magazine. Sad part: They put the wrong girl in the picture for the story.

There's no point in watching the show. They've been drooling over Heejun since he auditioned - can't imagine why. If the voting were rigged, he'd have won the day he auditioned. Phillip Phillips is the obvious frontrunner, given that teen girls that don't care about singing are the ones that seem to run the show.

Personally I tire of Jimmy's segments. Primarily because what he says is ALWAYS indicative of a person's safety as if he's some grand oracle when it reality he probably recorded them two minutes before the show started when he knew the results.

I miss Reed Grimm. He was like the only one who entertained me at all. The rest of these fools are even drier than the finalists of AI9 at this point.

I'm wondering whether the one booted out is always the one with the lowest votes. In the first half dozen or so seasons, there were always surprises that were booted off. Since then it has become quite predictable. It seems to follow an already preset order, up until the final.
Judging : Jo-Lo and Tyler can't give any criticism because they would be afraid that people would hate them and stop buying their music. Randy Jackson tries to be critical but gives the impression that he doesn't really know what he's talking about. Cowell was good because when he praised someone, they really deserved it.

You're right. I guess I'm just starved for something other than "You're awesome! You are one of the best EVER EVER! That was beautiful! You gave it 2000 percent!"

I do have favorites in the pack this year. The first night of the voting season I thought all the guys sucked and nearly all the girls the next night. I was not impressed.

Howver this past Wed. nite I had some really good moments. I thought Joshua did a good job but he is too gospel to get very far unless gospel American gets behind him. I did like Colton pretty much but am not loving that hair.

I loved Deandre. His Master Blaster or whatever that song is was reggae wonderful for me.

I don't like Skylar because she just belts the song and no emotion comes across - and people when we can have a song sung without having those last notes so high they could reach an elephants thigh? I am not a Heejun fan. There is one like him every year. He won't last. Holly is such a little girl and yet she does deliver a great song and big voice. I kinda knew Jeremy was the one going because he was like a thread that someone forgot to attach. His presence on stage was non existent, and while he has a sweet voice it is not a good or great voice.

I will agree that Jessica had a good pimp slot but she did knock her song out of the park and I loved that beautiful quiet trill rise and fall that concluded the song.

Philip Phillips can rock for me. I do do do do enjoy the look of that man, and that little peek-a-boo chest hair.

I dvr AI and go through the songs without the judges comments and on elimination night I zip right through all that endless agony Ryan has to put these kids through. I just think Steven Tyler is great as they are jumping from city to city looking for talent. He adds a lot of humor to some bad talent. Unfortunately I think a lot of great talent is dismissed before the finals that maybe could have been great given the chance.

Oh, yeah, he could definitely replace Randy on the judging panel and I'd have no problems. I cringe whenever Randy tries to make music references in his critiques because I'm always sitting there like, "How is it even POSSIBLE for this girl to sound like Madonna, Adele and Janis Joplin all at once? What the FUCK are you talking about?!" etc.

Oh and yessss the word "goosies" needs to die yesterday. She sounds like a 4 year old when says that.

I actually feel like I need a translator when he talks. Like where's my Randy-to-English dictionary? And he's not even entertainingly dopey about it, like Paula was. He's also NOT smarter than a 5th grader especially when it comes to Math. No Randy, that's not how percentages work.

JERMAINE JONES HAS BEEN DISQUALIFIED FROM IDOL!

(Does anyone care?)

After being a faithful fan for 10 seasons, I lasted through about 30 minutes of the first audition show, asked myself why am I still watching this, removed it from the DVR menu and the world didn't come to an end.

Ratings are consistently below 20 million, the judges are well past their best-before date, the editing is just too predictable and I could care less.

Maybe that's why there wasn't an AI11 thread started sooner?

From TV Line:

The news of Jones’ ouster was seemingly broken by TMZ, which claimed that a contestant was being disqualified after producers learned he concealed the fact that he was arrested twice — once for a violent crime — and has outstanding warrants. And while a Fox spokesperson declined to comment on this story, TMZ went on to name Jones as the singer in question, saying that he will appear on Wednesday’s live performance telecast before his ejection from the competition.

So... non-elimination week I guess? How boring. :/ Do the judges even have a save this season? I hope not.

This cast is WAY too ballad happy and boring. Combine that with two-hour episodes and I'm basically playing on my laptop with the show as background noise instead of watching it.

I'm glad somebody else is going tomorrow despite Jermaine's elimination, let's get rid of some of the fodder already.

Jermaine going was no big whoopee since he wasn't all that to begin with. Heejun is about as wallpaper as they come.

Last night they opened with Philip Phillips and I thought he was great -- scooting on down there was Colton who also did a great job - Hollie was good - Joshua the Gospel guy just goes way too over the top and I grew up with that kind of singing and didn't like it then and don't like it now.

Agreed. its hilarious how the insipid will.i.am said he felt joshua's pain when the latter sang "when a man loves a woman." isnt joshua a mo? (very jacob lusk over singing but less queen with the arm movements)

I am waiting for Heejun to get Pia'd. And by that I mean because he keeps picking ballads over and over, as soon as he picks a faster song, it's going to cost him. I think that's why the powers that be had Jessica sing a faster song last night since she's supposed to be the "new Pia."

I like Phillip, I guess. I don't like Colton, nor his hair. The only thing I ever remember about Hollie is her bizarre accent and that she's kind of cute. Deandre is NO Naima. I like Skylar and Heejun until they sing. Erika or her stylists need to dress her better. Elise exists. I wouldn't even remember Shannon if she weren't the VFTW pick, and to be honest I had to edit this sentence into this paragraph because I DID forget her.

Is that all of them? God this cast is boring.
