American Idol: Season 10

Scotty was surprised by Josh Turner on stage at his Hometown Show today

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGHSL1E6F9E&feature=player_embedded[/ame]

also here is the Judge's Picks for each of the Final 3 from mjsbigblog.com

Watch this space. I’ll be posting Lauren Alaina, Haley Reinhart and Scotty McCreery’s judges’ pick songs!

Lauren Alaina’s song is “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack

Via @Derrall: “American Idol just texted Lauren Alaina during her #HometownIdol visit. They picked “I Hope You Dance” to be next song on show.”

Scotty McCreery’s judges choice song is “She Believes In Me” by Kenny Rogers’ .

Via @thadogburn “Breaking #idol news: Scotty to sing Kenny Rogers’ “She Believes In Me” next week. Judge’s choice.”

Haley Reinhart’s judges choice song is “You Ought to Know” by Alanis Morissette

Haley doing Alanis = #WINNING!

On an entertainment level, of course. Would Haley go down Casey in a theater?

I really hope Haley does the acoustic version of You Oughta Know. It would suit and showcase her extraordinary vocals better. If you're unfamiliar with it, Alanis performed an acoustic version at the Grammys in 1996 (the same year she won Album of the Year for Jagged Little Pill).

Haley Reinhart
"You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette
"Sweet Dreams" by the Eurythmics
"Feeling Good" by Nina Simone

Scotty McCreery
"She Believes in Me" by Kenny Rogers
"You'll Think of Me" by Keith Urban
"What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts

Lauren Alaina
"Give Me One Reason" by Tracy Chapman
"I Hope You Dance" by LeAnn Womack
"How Do I Live" by LeAnn Rimes

We know which ones the judges picked as per bostonboy's post... I would assume Haley picked "Feeling Good" and not "Sweet Dreams." She should pull a Leslie Hunt, scat on the song, and then scream "Why did I decide to scat? American don't care for jazz!"

If Lauren Alaina is eliminated the same week that Matt from Survivor Redemption gets the boot (and loses the fan vote), I may have to declare this the best week ever in Reality TV.

God no! Scotty has to go. I'll never get over the fact that he made it past Pia Toscano.

oo...Haley really needs to do something special with "Sweet Dreams"...cause that song doesn't suit her AT ALL.....DAMN YOU NIGEL LYTHGOE!

She can do the Marilyn Manson version, which is slow and haunting.

Either way she has two great songs from Alanis and Nina.

Could James Durbin be more deluded? He's super obnoxious in interviews. I bet that his ego will be getting even more inflated through the Idol tour #-o

'James Durbin will take his career to a ‘whole other realm’
James Durbin has claimed that he has big things to come, after his recent elimination from American Idol.

The 22 year old rock singer told Entertainment Tonight that he plans to take his career further than any other Idol star, because he has spent years ‘refining his craft.’

He said:

“I’m trying to figure out where I want to take my career. I’m definitely taking it where no Idol alumni has ever been before,” Durbin said. “[It will be] a whole other realm. I don’t like to follow a trend.”

He added: “My entire life of listening to music, practicing music… and learning how to sing, and refining my craft has led up to this. This is what I’ve always looked forward to.

“I’m not paying out of pocket to go on a nationwide tour, cutting my teeth playing in dive bars and rock festivals opening on side stages for Motley Crue. It’s cool [because] instead I’m going to the top. My face is on the billboard.”

Why the HELL is this show two hours tonight? UGH. There's NINE performances and no reason why this should be longer than an hour, much less ninety minutes. Can't wait to sit through tons of filler!

So Scotty got the spot of death... Haley might actually do this.

Song one proves the songs we've been told are, at least in part, incorrect. Not that I'm surprised.

And I wouldn't jump on the "spot of death" hope yet. Remember last week.

Besides, this is Scotty, the one contestant smart enough to know what gets him through and keep doing it.

And I wouldn't jump on the "spot of death" hope yet. Remember last week.

You mean when James Durbin sang first and was eliminated?

So as long as they don't switch around the order for the second/third performances, Haley got the pimp spot AGAIN. They're really hoping for that all female finale I guess.

I mean when James sang first and then sang last, covering the pimp spot and death spot in one show, and was eliminated.

This isn't VFTW, the good and the bad (vary by perspective) will be expected to go together.

So Scotty got the spot of death... Haley might actually do this.

Here's the thing about super-fans though. They don't care if their favorite has the bad spot or the pimp spot. They don't care if their favorite gets good reviews of not. They don't even care if their favorite performs badly or not. They will vote like beasts for their favorite every week regardless of all other variables. And Scotty has the most formidable kind of super-fans: teen girl power-texters. He's making it to the finals regardless of what happens onstage tonight.

Now Lauren on the other hand could be in trouble if Haley blows it out of the water in her pimp spot. And you all know exactly how I'd feel about that.

Oh and here's Lauren and her pile of bullshit giving another mediocre performance and getting another round of over-praise. Blech.

Well, Pep, I made that statement because I figured that they'd throw Haley in the first spot because that's historically the weakest spot of the show, just like how the last one is historically the safest. I would guessed that Lauren was getting the pimp spot because Haley's gotten it more recently.

I agree that Lauren is in more trouble out of the two country kids this week, but Scotty getting the opening spot means that I wouldn't be too surprised if he left either.

I honestly don't remember how they do Top 3 traditionally (can someone else with a better memory jump in here?) but my guess is they'll switch it up each round so all three of them will get to go "last" once, if that makes sense.

If not, then yeah Haley's really getting all the help she can get tonight!
