I had to correct a friend of mine who was questioning on FB why James is always blinking and squinting....she didn't know either of the conditions he has, she must have missed it during the auditions.

Well, I am happy that he has singing as an outlet because he doesn't seem to show any of the symptoms while singing. You can tell when he is nervous with Ryan because he does twitch and blink and raise his eyebrows. He is a talented guy and I think he will be one of the final 3.

We all know that 'vote the worst' is a factor in some of these eliminations.

I didn't mean to accuse anyone. I do recall a comment or two about his reaction to being in the bottom three and his pointing at the camera. I, too, can find his actions irritating and have to remind myself that he prolly doesn't quite get emotions and their expressions. In turn I admire his courage all the more. I like his singing, but I'm tired of the screaming, and think it's time he did a ballad.

Right? Neither Matt Giraud nor Big Mike (the two previous saved contestants) got any of that. The Casey pimping is at an all time high. Is slipintothefog a producer this year or what?

On the plus side, I've hated every single Paul McDonald performance thus far (even in the auditions) but DAMN tonight his sparse vocals and sparse arrangement totally worked! That was beautiful! It felt like a song Ryan Adams never wrote. And of course the one week I like him, the judges are tepid.

At least Paul gave one great performance though. I'm still waiting for Casey to do that.

Aijalon's boyfriend sang (mostly) well tonight, picked a popular song, looked GORGEOUS, and was touched by J-Lo. He just might avoid elimination!

Seriously though, I suspect last week's bottom three was a ruse to create drama. The fact that neither Naima nor Haley were there (after being in the bottom three almost every other week) gave it away. I predict they'll be the two to go tomorrow (and I haven't even seen Haley's performance yet).

Oh and Casey's performing last...of fucking course.

(Casey may be my favorite but I'm a dedicated Worster and have voted for Paul over Casey each week.)

Casey gets the best song of the night (of course) and sings it mostly restrained...and proves once and for all that he really has no talent outside that growl. Worst performance of the night so far. But of course the crowd and judges eat it up and he's so fucking safe it's not even funny.

Generally VFTW sticks to the same pick until he or she leaves, even if there's a week or two that's good. It's counter-productive to switch picks every single week, since just about anybody can have a good (or at least judges-approved) week -- even Sanjaya did, and he was the VFTW God.

The only times I really remember VFTW changing the pick was when they went from Constantine to Scott Savol in season 4, and from Mike Lynch to Casey James last season even though, in that case, Mike was picked before the actual performance show. After the show aired, it was changed to Casey.

Unless VFTW's owner Dave changes his mind, and that's doubtful, Worsters probably will be voting for Paul until his elimination. The likely picks after Paul goes are one of Casey, Naima or Jacob. Dave calls them the Four Horsemen of the Idolpocalypse.

I personally believe he deserves to be eliminated this week, but we'll see.


Side note - I love how they hated on Naima for doing EXACTLY what they claim to want: Staying true to herself and making a song her own. If she'd done it as originally written, they'd have ripped her apart for that too.

I almost threw my sneaker at the TV. Casey's "singing" was almost as lazy as Britney Spears' recent "performances". I cant believe these judges. I guess they dont wanna look stupid after saving someone who then goes the next week. But they are beyond pathetic.

I thought I was the only one who liked Haley. They girl hasnt got a shot in hell since the judges are completely against her but I think she has talent. She simply doesnt know how to channel it always.

And I am so damn tired of Scott. I wouldnt be surprised if he wins. It would be such bullshit. But Carrie Underwood was able to country her way through the whole competition. Even weeks when it wasnt country. Why is it ok for him to a country dirge every fucking week but Pia keeps getting told she needs to do an uptempo song?

I totally agree, but he's 100% safe. He got the save (which always yields a boost in votes the following week), and they pimped it a bazillion times, and he got to sing arguably Elton John's best song. Never mind that he sounded awful, they all ate it up.

I'm glad she went for a reggae version but honestly, that was the wrong song to do it. It sounded bad. The only reason she's not the worst of the night is because Casey stunk up the joint.

I think Naima is going home for sure and either Thia or Stefano will join her. Maybe Haley if America really hasn't caught the snap on her awesomeness yet.

THANK YOU! I thought I was the only one too but TV Line's Michael Slezak is totally with us! I blame the judges for not giving her due credit earlier. She's had a few bumps but honestly, her performance of "Blue" (with the slight yodel) was amazing! The girl has talent and definitely more control over her blues and growl than Casey.

All her downloadable studio versions have been pretty good. So are Stefano's. I love when Haley's attitude when she sang Whitney and smeared her lipstick all over herself. She's such a good sport.

I loved my little Steffypoo's video segment. He has the cutest speaking voice. I can see why you think he might be gay. I'm still not sure. he's so damn tiny though. He's my little Tiny Dancer.

I would laugh my ass off if Casey goes home, but I can see the producers or whoever preventing that to avoid embarassment.

I am almost to the point of quitting this show. It is barely entertaining to me anymore. I can't stand Steven Tyler, I actually read a good article on how Steven was bad for AI. He was entertaining in the auditions, but has become completely useless now. All he can do is repeat himself and say that it was beautiful. He can offer no constructive criticism.

I really can't believe the judges didn't mention Naima's fake Jamaican accent. I thought that performance was embarrassing...lol. Just cause you sing reggae doesn't mean you have to put on the accent.


I don't understand you people with the Casey hate...his performance was one of the best...there was only one part that I didn't like and it was the little extended growl that just didn't work.

Scottie needs to be done...i'm completely bored with him.

Hayley...she's growing on me...but I'd really love to see her go the Grace Potter route...she's got the voice for that type of music and I think she could really do well with it.

If Naima goes because of one ill-advised performance, I may well be done. Especially if the likes of Paul, Casey and Thia get to hang around. It will be clear that too many people watching and voting aren't capable of seeing the talent beyond one bad week and isntead pay attention to the judges.

BTW, Jennifer is totally turning into Paula. That "360 flip" comment on Naima's performance was idiotic. When you flip something 360, you don't change it. She can take time to write stuff down during performances of people she isn't gaga over, take time to make a proper comment.

I'm sick of the BS on this show. What's-his-name that came back made promises when he took over and seems to be breaking each and every one with a smile on his face.

And what the hell is the point of having that tone deaf guy work with them every week? He should be fired for some of what he puts on the contestants. Instead of pointing out a mistake, he makes it worse.
