Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

I see nothing wrong with someone representing an opinion even if it's not my own. She can be pro-life and she can even go to protests and say it... because it's America. And I don't want people to look down on me for speaking out for causes I agree with even if their opinions are different than mine.

However, I find it cowardly that she hid it (ie taking the picture off her myspace). You believe in something girl say it and if you take a hit because of your beliefs you stand there and take that hit.

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

I don't see her political views as being an issue.

As for the pictures with Simon and Randy...this isn't her first TV show. She competed on (and won) America's Most Talented Kids and auditioned for Star Search. Her meetings with the judges were most likely fleeting photo ops. I'm sure Randy and Simon see a lot of aspiring young singers...you can't expect them remember every single one and then accuse them of breeding future American Idols.

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

I don't think that personal beliefs has anything to do with one's singing talent.

I voted for her because she was the best vocalist. End of story.

Exactly.... There are probably PLENTY of stars that don't share the same personal beliefs as some of their fans do OFF CAMERA. So that didn't way into my decision.. I don't see her on TV denouncing gays or anything like that. She isn't a religious nutcase. So its fine with me. Not everyone is going to agree with me on every single issue... as long as they respect my BELIEFS then we are cool.

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 6 Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the only two who will have success are Sanjaya and Melinda.

I agree, I think Blake might be moderately successful but I find it weird that Blake can only be compared to artist that don't sell all that well.

LONG LIVE SANJAYA!!!!

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

People always gotta talk about someone. Its really really sad.

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

Do you know how many people Randy and Simon probably have come up to them and ask for pictures? Probably thousands over the last couple years. Would you be able to remember every one of them?

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

I just can't believe all the things people say.
Am I black or white? Am I straight or gay?
Do I believe in God? Do I believe in me?
Controversy.
I just can't believe human curiousity.
Was it good for you? Was I what you wanted me to be?
Do you get high? Does your daddy cry?
Controversy.
Do I believe in God? Do I believe in me?
Some people want to die so they can be free.
But life is just a game, we're all just the same.
Don't you want to play?
Controversy.

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

doesnt really matter to me, regardless of what her views are. not a fan of hers anyway, but whatever her beliefs are there arent my concern.

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

Oh, well... I thought this was going to be something interesting.

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

So... she has old pictures of her with Randy and Simon, and she is against abortion.

So?

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

She's allowed to hold whatever beliefs she chooses, but that doesn't mean that it won't affect the public's perception of her (see: Cruise, Tom).

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

What is the "initial controversy" of her entry the article refers to?

Because she won Arizona Idol, she was driven to Seattle (in a limo) and allowed to audition for AI without "standing in line." (So the story goes, and she has said it's true.) Supposedly she did some (semi- ?) professional gigs that Coke sponsored and they are one of AI's main sponsors. Not sure it amounts to anything, but it was clear to me they were pimping her from day one. (I've also always believed the producers rig the votes, if they've a mind to, since no one's ever told what the count is. They also have a declaimer (in small letters) that runs at the end of every program, stating they have the right to eliminate any votes they consider "fraudulent."

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

I'm sure that show is rigged! Ryan Seacrest said at the start of the season that Jordin would win, and she did.

Melinda deserved to win. She was the best. Of Jordin and Blake, Blake was the most original, and I think will be the most commercial. He's different. The market is already saturated with people like Jordin. Not to say that she isn't good - she is - but it's going to be an uphill climb for her to become the next Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson.

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

geesh, some of them are unhappy that blake didn't win AI that is why this thread started!

we know he's hot, he's original, but he can't beat jordin when it comes to singing. jordin sang the last song better than he did, so just deal with it! jordin won!

Re: Idol Winner Jordin Spark's Secret Shame

Well ofcourse the show would rather have Jordin win because her look and voice is more maintstream and she is young too. She is going to be able to put out the powerful ballads and pop music at the same time because her voice really has no personality. So it can be easily molded to whatever the producers or managers want. But I dont think there is a giant Idol vote rigging conspiracy.

Re: I Hate American Idol!!!

First off I did vote for Melinda and I think shes the best singer of this season. I havent watched AI since Kelly won on season 1. As for her being a professional I dont agree with those who think she shouldnt have been allowed to compete she was not under contract with any record lable and its a big difference being out front instead of the background. Also I doubt that this is the first audition that many of the contestants have been on if their dream is to be a singer. In the end I think it will be better for Melinda that she didnt win but I sure would have liked to have seen her in the finally.BTW I didnt watch just didnt care anymore and will not watch in the future! Just not that intresting!
