When i watch American tv shows, when somebody says the fuck word,i hear the famous beep sound. It should not be like that.Americans should be able to let people say fuck.

In Canadian tv shows, talk shows or other shows,Canadians can say the fuck word as much as they wants and theres no beep sound.Canadians can even say worst words than fuck and its still uncensored on tv.When American celebrities comes in Canadians tv shows, they often says,Fuck! Oh! its true! we are in Canada,we can say the fuck word.

American tv shows even censor the middle finger and the butt crack. Its crazy. Its over the top.In Canada you can see people showing their middle finger and their butt crack without pixels.

Are americans that prude?

Its not like censoring the fuck word on tv shows that it will make people stop from saying it.Even if you dont hear the fuck word on american tv shows.Americans will still say fuck.So.Its useless to have a beep sound when somebody say fuck on tv.Fuck is a very popular word with americans.Americans says fuck very often.Americans says fuck when they are pissed off, when they are surprised and even when they have sex.

It looks like americans are becoming more and more obsessed with the sensorship. They cut, cut, cut and cut everything.

When you think about it,you see theres something wrong.Americans still sensor the fuck word in tv shows.

If the fuck word is in a movie. The movie will get an R rating.Only because the fuck word is said only 1 time in the movie. The movie could have easily been rated PG 13.Are americans that afraid of the fuck word?

Everybody knows that Canada is a more progressive country than USA.Canadians and Americans have similar culture.But.For some reasons.Americans are way behind Canadians when it comes to rights and openness.

The point is.If Canadians can say fuck and other 10 times more vulgar words on tv,Americans should be able to do it as well.

There are PLENTY of channels on American TV where you can go if you want to here people say fuck...

Personally, I like Canada -- but, ummmm, well, its not because I want to hear people say fuck on TV...

:lol::lol::lol:

I think it's because our country is so uptight whereas Canada is more laid back. I think if they were to allow swearing on TV here people would freak out.

Each time i watch american tv shows, they sensor the fuck word and the middle finger with pixels.

You will never hear the fuck word on Oprah,Jay Leno,Ellen and even Big Brother who always sensor the fuck word and the middle finger.

Americans freaked out with the Adam Lambert kissing a man at the award show.If Adam Lambert would have kissed a man in a Canadian show, people would had no problem with it.People would have said,he just kissed a man.

What I find interesting is how BBC America handles that word.

Fuck as a noun seems to be ok...Gordan Ramsey says it ALL the time.
But, fucked as a verb is edited out.

The FCC rules are different for different channels, broadcast stations are not allowed to use it. But, premium channels (ie: no commercials) can.

But, I'm not sure what the rules are for a channel like BBC America. (for those in the UK, the US version has commericals) Maybe it has to do the rules in UK. We may be just getting the shows they way they're edited for air there.

I don't know what shows or channels you are watching but seeing as we live in the same city it can't be all that different, and I have know clue as to what you are talking about? I never hear the word fuck on TV.

I never hear the word fuck on TV.

I'm with you. I've seen gay couples kissing on screen, and I've heard the words ass, cock, and shit, but 'fuck' isn't a word I can even remember hearing.

Theres lots of examples that shows it.For example. At MusiquePlus. The host and the guest often says fuck on tv.They says fuck and vulgar words in french. When they do interviews. The word fuck is often heard. Also in the Big Brother Québec show. You could hear them saying fuck and other vulgar words.

what about saying ''phoque'' on Canadian TV between 9 and 6, is that allowed? ;)

They can't say the word cock or dick either. I always found it odd when someone refers to a penis on television.

Technically, broadcasters can show pretty much anything they want after 10 pm. Cable channels can show whatever they want whenever they want. FCC regulations don't apply to late night TV and they have no jurisdiction over cable- and satellite-only channels. However, these stations and channels have to appeal to advertisers in order to get the money they need to continue operating. These sponsors tend to shy away from shows with too much objectionable content for fear of being associated with any controversy that may arrive from said content. That's why there's so much self-regulation in the US. It's not that they CAN'T say the word "fuck" on TV, it's just that they choose not to because it's better to be safe than sorry. Honestly, a lot of it has to do with Janet Jackson's tit. TV had become quite daring up until that point. It wasn't that uncommon to hear rougher language (they still shied away from "fuck," though) and even see nudity on broadcast television. Then nipplegate happened and everyone freaked the fuck out.

basically, FCC regulations regarding profanity don't apply to any channel that you have to pay to receive.
Ah, that explains how HBO can get away with their awesomeness. Doesn't get much better than medieval softcore porn with a touch of sci-fi. Waiting impatiently for Game of Thrones!!!!

Sick in bed, I've just watched the second season of Dexter on disc, and have to say I never noticed how many times they say the word fuck in all its variations until now. When they put Dexter to TV, was it on cable? How did they get past the censors? It's not a problem in Australia.
