As I stated in another thread:

centexfarmer said:
I like the Libertarian Candidate Gary Johnson, and I truly like what he has to say and his message.

But politically there's no way that he's going to win.

Do I think voting for him is throwing away your vote?

No.

I just hope that enough "moderate" Republicans vote for him to deny Romney the Presidency, and that the Libertarian Party gets enough attention to be taken more seriously in the 2016 POTUS Elections.

And I followed up in the same thread by saying:

centexfarmer said:
Can you imagine what would happen to the Republican Party if all of moderates within their party voted "Libertarian" while all of the "social conservatives," and knuckle dragging low information voters voted for Romney?

According to Libertarian Presidential Candidate Gary Johnson, linked above in The Daily Show interview, the reason why he hasn't been a part of the POTUS Debate process is because he's not polling above 8%.

And that Ross Perot was the reason back in 1992.

I expect Ron Paul and his delegates to the 2012 Republican Convention in Tampa next month to give Romney hell, but even if Romney succeeds hope is not lost in their cause.

Americans will have a THIRD option on the ballot this November, debates or not.

What say you?

Unless something changes I'm voting for him.

And I personally, and honestly respect that! ..|

i would never vote for Gary Johnson. Never. I am voting for the correct man for office, and he sits in the White House right now. And the honest truth is Gary Johnson will probably get around 1-2% of the vote... if he's lucky. He won't be a Ross Perot.

Historically Ross Perot made sure that George Bush 41 was a one term president, and helped to usher in 8 years of American Growth, Prosperity, and a Federal Balanced Budget with a Federal Surplus that Bush43 squandered within his first 3 years as President after 2001. ;)

I'm just hoping that if "traditional" Republicans or Republican leaning Independents can't vote for Romney, or Obama that they'll vote for Johnson. :D

The real key this election doesn't have anything to do with the White House, but rather Congress.

If the Tea Baggers get hold of the Senate, and gain more seats in the House we're all fucked.

Damn, Centex. Why are you making me think?

Because I like to fuck with you! :luv:

A 3rd Political party would make sense, if it was a European type "Center" party, which could encompass the moderate wings of both the present parties, The republicans especially would be better off (& so would the country) if people like Bloomberg & Schwarzenegger, Huntsman, Collins & Snowe in ME, Brown here in MA , Jeb Bush were in a separate party. Note I don't count Christie here. these are the republicans with BALLS, which Christie doesn't have (& couldn't see if he had any) Nor do I count Nader. I still feel that had he dropped out in 2000, W would have had to go back to TX with his tail between his legs

I'd rather independents vote for Obama instead of Johnson because that'll help OBama more. Johnson doesn't have a chance and he won't be like Ross Perot.

Well Duh, my little Latin Firecracker! ;)

Me too!

Baby steps.

I've always personally felt that the majority of Americans are more "centrist." If given the chance to vote for a party that more represents the complexity of who we are as Americans, rather than for or against two extremes. a "center" candidate could win.

The only "center" that's presented itself for me are Libertarians.

Both the Democrats and the Republicans refer to them as "Independents."

And a lot of that has to do with how each state forces us to "register" to vote.

As a Texas Democrat I can't vote in the Republican Primary.

If I were a Texas Republican I could not vote in the Democratic Primary.

Those are the Texas Party rules for both parties.

It's the same in a lot of other states.

Neither of the two parties allow "a third."

So we hear fellow Americans say, "I don't vote for the party I vote for the candidate."

So when their "candidate" cant even get on the ballot, much less a nationally televised debate, where and when do they vote?

Certainly not in the primaries, because both the Democrat and Republican Parties have that locked up.

I'm just trying to figure out WHERE in the U.S. Constitution where a two party system of Government was laid out. ;)

And who gets to decide what our options are as American electorate.

I would vote for him in a heartbeat if he had a viable chance of winning. I'm not one to squander my vote though.

as for gary johnson, I'd rather pass a stone

Until the Presidential debates allow a third party candidate to participate with the other two, we will never break out of this cycle.

Until the Presidential debates allow a third party candidate to participate with the other two, we will never break out of this cycle.

That's exactly why the presidential debate committee, made of course only of Republicans and Democrats, has raised the threshold for getting into the debates to 15%. In one area poll Johnson hit 8%; soon after, they raised the bar. They don't care if they look fair, they just want to keep power.

I know Johnson doesn't have a chance, but I want to see him in the debates. Everyone here should, too, because he'll make Romney look like the inconsistent ass he is, and show up Obama for being weak.

I'd love to see a CANDIDATE call both of the party front runners out on their party's shit. :D

And Johnson could do so speaking in plain American English without the spin.

I have looked up his record....may vote for him but he's a little too left on some and right on others. On Foreign policy,he's a nonstarter because he just isn't realistic at all....our role must likely change, but we must remain active and engaged with the world.Russia,China and some other upstarts would love to fill a US vacuum.Though in terms of being intellectually honest and forthright as a libertarian I find him much more so than Ron Paul, and many of his positions I am comfortable with despite my misgivings on others.I know he won't be elected but perhaps light a spark with the electorate that if things remain as they are today or worsen change won't be so difficult to conceive.

Either way can you imagine how Johnson would deal with the petulant children that currently make up the Congressional Branch of our Government?

His favorite weapon was the veto, but this Congress doesn't pass enough to make that useful.

But he wouldn't be afraid to walk into the House or Senate and chew them out royally for not doing their jobs.
