We always seein thangs on the TV here in my cuntry about how americans are so obese, in our shows about weight and food whatnot, they always take our XL people,

to meetcho XXXXXXL people, who always need reinforced ambulances, firetrucks and cranes to be get around from A to B, they've had body parts amputated and they have to have they bodies washed by a maid with a stick-sponge

so is obesity as bad as we hear about, do you see thes types of vistuals day to day or is it be over dramatised by the media ?

Before I give you my response, I'm going to batter it, deep fry it, and serve it with drawn butter. Because everything goes down tastier that way.

Dear shadycock, I'm sorry to say that the citizens of my country and yours are closely following those fat Americans into disgusting fatty, cholesterol-laden, artery-blocking, death-inviting morbid obesity :(

I saw so many unhealthy people in shopping centres.
Parents and education systems are to blame. Schools sell junk food all the time since i can remember.

tbh, I don't see obese people that often, unless I hit the city.

The disgustingly fat ones are on welfare with taxpayer-funded helpers to pull them around. They mostly stay at home. The not-so-fat ones go to the malls after 9 in the morning .

The focus on U.S. obesity probably has to do with our global influence on fast food industry, obsession with popular diets that were "invented" here and advancements in barbaric medicine like the first gastric bypass concept and surgery. But U.S. is definitely not the only country in the world that has serious problem with obesity. Even China and Japan are seeing rise in obesity rates.

How bad is it?

In Colorado, the obesity rate is 19.8%. That's one in five. These people aren't just overweight - they're seriously, dangerously, health-damaging-ly overweight. Fifteen years ago, that figure would've been enough to put Colorado at the very top of the list of US states with an obesity problem.

Now? We rank 50th. Last. We're the healthiest state. Because ONLY one in five of us is dangerously overweight. The rate is higher everywhere else.

(in France a law forbids schools from selling junk food to children, and ads from all food companies must have a message to say to not eat too much, to eat vegetables and fruits and to exercise everyday)

This is precisely the sort of thing Americans get exceptionally anger about. Here, we consider this "nanny-ism" - forever warning of potential dangers and pitfalls. The American mindset is that we should be free to make such decisions without forever being warned of the consequences. Perhaps this is why Americans are so much fatter than the rest of the world, but I can guarantee you that many Americans would consider that a small price to pay.
