America's Next Top Model Cycle 15

Wow, that pic of Mollie Sue is stunning Moe!

It's so cool when you can agree with someone about something that is relatively subjective.

(*8*)

Gawd I love Fatima, she's probably my favorite contestant of all time. She should have won that damn cycle instead of Whitney...

Even though I thought the shot was good, the jumping thing is starting to get to be a little bit of an ANTM cliche.

I'll comment more once I'm sure everyone has seen the show. Needless to say, I was surprised and not surprised at the same time.

Other than the girls nearly killing themselves on the treadmill/runway during the challenge, there weren’t really that many highlights in this week’s episode.

I'm over these ridiculous runway challenges.

And what rocket scientist thought it was a great idea once again to put that much drag make-up on Chelsey and recycle one of Kate Gosselin’s old racoon wigs on Liz?

Yeah, the styling was definitely lacking. STOP GIVING LIZ LONG HAIR!!!!!

I totally agree with you on Kendal and Ann's shot was gorgeous, but didn't fit the theme. I had a feeling they were going there going in that direction relatively quickly into the episode.

As much as I now hate to admit it, Chris has now become one of my faves along with Kayla and Liz. It’s weird how I doomed her to getting voted off by the third episode and now I find myself becoming more enamored with her by the episode. I still believe she isn’t a model whatsoever but it’s something about her face and her look that I think is rather remarkable.

I was thinking of your prediction tonight and was wondering if you were feeling more impressed by Chris. I am too. She still doesn't strike me as stunning, but she seems to be learning, which is always a plus!

lol But it wasn't until the most ordinary girls on the show (Suckleisha, Analeigh, Chris) decided to jump in a photograph that I could finally see that they did have some slight potential at modeling.

I loved Analeigh, personality wise. I have my favorites even if they aren't the best models. I thought Joanie's jumping photo in cycle 6 was stunning! I can understand how the jumping would lead you to see that they had potential. It makes sense to me too, but it just seems like a lifesaver at the same time.

Again, we agree on a lot!

Oh great, Ann won again. Is Tyra just doing this for ratings? It's unfair how she judges ALL the girls based on their performance that day when she goes over their photo stream, yet didn't mention to Ann that she did the same pose throughout her shoot.

I've officially dubbed this season the Ann show and now I'm bored. Hopefully the ratings go lower and Tyra gets a good spanking.

I am tired of Andre Leon Tally and his duvet outfits. Bring back Jay.

No! :bartshock Anyone but that.

Compared to last cycle, I think ALT has been very subdued. He's not nearly as obnoxious and outlandish on panel. In fact, tonight was the first night in many weeks that I remembered his criticism of one of the girls.

I dunno, I still believe he's a brilliant upgrade over Miss J. (who I couldn't stand on panel at all). ALT's a little loopy and garish but at least he has legitimate credibility in the fashion industry. I can't say the same for any other judge on that panel, including Tyra herself so... :-)

Yes he has the background to be there, but his critiques are vacant blah blah blah. Just because he has the credentials doesn't make him television material. Speaking of material, his own sense of fashion is laughable (and I am an XXL guy). Jay at least didn't take himself too seriously. Also, I miss having a supermodel (Janice, Twiggy, Paulina) on the panel.

These panels are just Tyra responding to Andre's flamboyant comments.

Ann - YES! OMG I'm loving this girl! :) The girl is a natural no doubt about it. It is so clear that she's the best in pictorials. This whole season is all about Vogue Italia, the winner must be able to do editorials effortlessly and Ann just showed that she can do that. I don't think Cover Girl is big deal this season, because seriously, real Top Models rarely do Cover Girl commercials (Makeup Companies hire actresses to be their spokesperson most of the time anyway). What Ann really needs to focus on is her walk. I have high hopes for this girl.

Kendal - Another YES! moment for my girl. Just a little more push and she's there. Right now she looks like she's one of the top models that works for high end designers that hasn't reach the super star status yet. I would be so thrilled if her and Ann battle it out in the end.

Jane - She did great this time. She has that Miranda Kerr cute appeal. Her classic Americana look can work for Guess/Ralph Lauren/Calvin Klein (which btw catapulted some of the top models such as Kate Moss and Lara Stone).

Chelsea - I think that only reason she's still there is to have a second grade Lara Stone. Unfortunately she can't model like Lara Stone (or maybe not yet, we'll see). I still haven't seen a wow photo from her.

Kayla - I didn't think she deserved to be in the bottom two unless they were trying to push her to do better, which she needs to do. I really like Kayla, still wishes she'd go back to blonde.

Chris - I love her pictures, they remind me of Tokyo Style Fashion Arena photos. They're cute and bubbly but not editorial. Her jumping photo looks catalog-y but that's because of her super smile.

Esther - I don't see her as a high fashion model... I don't know. She a beautiful girl but I don't know...

Liz - I'm done with Liz. She doesn't have that rawness that Omahyra have. She's just bland and stiff when she photographs. She can go home next.

Kacey - Hallelujah! The bitch is gone. She should have gone home before Rihanna. I don't sorry for her at all. I'm glad they didn't keep her for the ratings. I wonder who's gonna come out next and be the next bitch...

Nigel - for some reason, Nigel's getting on my nerves. I feel like he's trying to hard. Next to Rolston and Demarchelier, his rants sounded forced and full of crap.

I just got finished watching the episode and I'm happy with the result. I wasn't thrilled with Liz this episode, but since she's my favorite I'm glad she had that close up to save her.

I was pissed with the shoe thing with Kayla. It made her photos weaker than normal.

I think Kendal can push even more. Her facial expressions weren't that strong for me this week.

I seriously thought Chelsea was going to go home this week with all the time they spent focusing on her. I thought it was a bit much. I'm glad she didn't though.

Jane rocked my world with her shoots this week. I'm nervous about her ability to keep it up though.

I really liked Chris' pictures, but I didn't think they were that strong. She photographed very carefree, which I liked, but it made the photos less high-fashion than I thought they should be.

Esther looked pretty good, but she still needs to improve to be in the top.

Finally, Ann. What is there to say that hasn't been said about her? I thought the photos were great, but wasn't thrilled that she was called out first, if only because it's happened every other time. I think she is obviously the front-runner, but I'm wondering how she'll do on go-sees. From what we've seen (which is edited footage) she seems extremely awkward in person, which could be a liability as far as runway and ads go. It's likely that she won't be doing many of those, so perhaps it will be a moot point.

Before I go into my reactions to this weeks episode, I wanted to share this article. I found it by googling Liz. I'm a huge Liz fan, but this article had interesting information about Ann, Terra, and Chris as well.

http://antm411.wordpress.com/category/liz-williams/

Overall, I thought the photo shoot was a little strange. Even though I really like androgyny, I didn't love the male looks on Jane or Esther.

Chelsey did pretty good. She seemed a little harsh in the picture and I wasn't in love with her makeup.

Chris did okay, but she still doesn't scream model to me.

Esther disappointed, but I think she was just over-thinking things and unsure of how to get across being a guy. I think the same thing happened to Jane.

I didn't think Ann really embodied her designer, but I only have that one picture to go off of.

I thought Kayla did a good job and I thought of her as channeling a little Kirsten Dunst. I don't like that her hair is growing out though.

Liz did well and I was glad she got a first call out. I hope she keeps it up and makes it to the end. We shall see.

Kendall didn't do well at all and I think it was her time to go. She seemed like a nice girl, but I guess her nerves got to her. She didn't listen to the photographer at all and I don't know why she didn't at least crack a smile like Vera did.

I didn't see the preview for next week, but I assume they are going overseas soon. I heard they are going to Venice. Is that true?

Props to Liz, she owned the Galliano impersonation very well.

Kendal...really? the judges were definitely smoking something... she'll probably end up being on the cover of the actual Vogue Italia anyways...

Finally the Ann streak has ended and my Liz has risen to the top of the ranks where she belongs! (!) :gogirl:

Ditto.

Neither did I, in fact I felt Esther performed the worst this week and should have been sent home over Kendal. Pretty girl, but her face and her body proportions doesn't register as a model. Even though, Kendal just stood lifelessly in her shot, her picture was alot more intriguing to look at than Esther's. Kendal's off and vacant expression, her cheekbones and the positioning of her long legs were very reminiscent of a top model's spread in Vogue. Kendal may not have captured the character of Vera Wang but she's definitely bringing something magical forth.

I think Kendal is the better model, but she bombed the challenge more than Esther, IMO because to me Kendal's picture looked like two models, as opposed to a model and a designer. Esther just didn't know how to model as a man. I think the judges were harder on Kendal because they know she has potential.

Kendal fell victim to failing a challenge, while actually still being good at what the show should be (claims to be? is?) about.

Once Kendal becomes confident in her natural modeling ability, I can definitely see her having a modeling career that's on the same level of Fatima and Mollie Sue. She was definitely imo, the most modelesque girl out of the bunch.

I agree.

But like Esther, she's pretty enough to photograph pleasantly.

Chris smiles too much for my liking. And then there's the whole fugliness she bring to the table. That said, I'm still impressed that Chris is doing pretty well. I think she's adventurous and takes direction well.

I think Esther is a bit more striking. However, I don't love the eyebrows, even if they do add to the strikingness she has.

I thought she captured Alexander Wang's posture perfectly but her eyes/facial expression looked very cold and tense. I don't think she was able to shake her shielded personality and immerse herself in Wang's easygoing persona.

I think it was the expression that did it for me too. I was surprised they lavished so much praise on the picture.

I'll bet again they'll use a Venice Beach shoot as a tie-in that the girls are going to Venice, Italy. You know Tyra's very clever when it comes to things like that. Think back to Cycle 14 and the Zs.

Yeah, I do love Tyra's "cleverness" on the show. I am glad she toned it down a bit from that whole Smize, superhero gimmick though.

Yawn... so bored of this season. The girls, other than Ann & Kayla in my opinion, can't take AMAZING photos. Everyone is praising Liz for doing such a fantastic job... umm, she does that with her eye brows all the time! I'm not a fan of Kendal but I think it was unfair how she had a designer with no distinct style other than her ethnicity. Everyone got the goofy/wacky/polished/boyish but Kendal got plain jane. They couldn't have given her Donatella V. or something?

Nobody on all seasons as surprised me as much as Nicole of petite season did.

blah.

probably going to piss people off, but as a long-time, devoted watcher of this show (since cycle 1), i gotta say that this season is just as bad as the ones before, if not worse.

first of all, tyra makes all this fuss about how this is the "high fashion" cycle, but it's clear from the start that this shit is still as arbitrary as all her other cycles - just with fancier photographers and prizes.

in my opinion, kendal - as boring as she was - had the most potential, looked most like a model to me, would've been an inspiration to see on italian vogue (this prize, btw, is ridiculous - um, hello? what about american vogue? why get featured on italy's vogue site and magazine if they're *america's* next top model???)

i wish kendal had won last cycle. she blows krista out of the water. she's a high fashion c6 danielle ("dani"), and i loved danielle. so despite her age, kendal is/was my favorite in the house. so it sucks that they threw her out.

even diane von furstenberg saw plenty of potential in her. but tyra and ALT were pretty much like, you're boring and can't pose - peace out bitch.

they did the same shit to C14 simone, and they've done the same to kendal. such idiots.

so in my mind, this competition is down to the white chicks. sorry to play the race card, but not since C3-C4 has there been a back-to-back black winner... (if you consider Naima black). not to mention (sorry liz-fans), now that kendal's gone, none of the other black chicks in the house are really italian vogue material. they're basically just filler. but i could be wrong...

out of the white chicks, i can only realistically see this competition coming down to either jane-esther-chelsey, none of whom really wow me.

esther has a very new, interesting look, but her boobs are just way too big. so can't really see her winning. but who knows.

jane - plain but modelesque, uppercrust rich-bitch from princeton. she looks like a walking ralph lauren ad. seems like the most likely to win. but she's short.

and chelsey - well, i don't know. if she wins, fine. i love that she's tall, and that gives her some edge over jane - but not that much.

btw, does anyone else find it ironic that tyra WIDENED chelsea's gap after constantly hounding danielle in cycle 6 to CLOSE HER GAP, going off on how a girl with a gap in her teeth could never represent covergirl.

TOTAL BULLSHIT.

or even more obviously ironic, how Liz was "first-call-out" this week, even after ADMITTING she didn't even know the designer she was portraying (how the hell does she not know john galliano), but then tyra REPRIMANDS Jane for not knowing her designer, saying that their elimination might come down to the girl who didn't know her designer.

bullshit.

but, in my mind, that obvious inconsistency makes an even greater case for a Jane-win because maybe tyra just wanted to whip jane into shape so that she'd start studying the industry and designers, etc.

she used a similar scare tactic with C9 saleisha/tootie, when she put her in the bottom 2 with victoria for her tulip photo (which i thought was her best photo), as a "wake-up call" - then kept her and ultimately started sucking her clit before announcing her as winner of C9.

anyway - i digress.

as for ann - i know i'm going to get alot of haters for saying this - but ann doesn't really look like a model to me. sure, she's interesting-looking and unbelievably tall, but her proportions don't really seem appropriate for modeling.

the fact that she's got this whole underdog story is great (i love underdogs), but i personally think C2 shandi was the more superior uglyduckling-to-swan story. and shandi's proportions were better for high fashion than ann's.

i just can't see italian vogue ever agreeing to have ann featured on their glossy pages, so i can't see her as the winner. or imagine her on the runway at milan fashion week? um, she'd stick out like a sore thumb. no designer would ever book her because her sheer height would completely detract from their work/collection.

i could, of course, be wrong, and if i am, tyra will have surprised the hell out of me again.
obviously, i'll keep watching just for that.

Even though they gave Liz long hair again. I know how you feel about that.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of that, but obviously since Galiano had long hair, she had to too.

As far this past episode, I was glad Liz wasn't eliminated, but she did get on my nerves this episode. I get that people laugh when they are nervous, but she doesn't really seem to take the whole competition very seriously. You would think she'd be a little more mature because she has kids, but I guess not. I still hope she gets some sort of career out of this. I'd love it if she wins, but I hope her edit makes her a bit less annoying although judging from the previews for next week she may be sent home. In the past some of my favorite girls have gone home first after the trip to another country. I hope that's not the case this season.

I had already seen Ann on a Facebook message after the show aired (I like ANTM on Facebook) so I was pretty sure she wasn't eliminated. Then when I watched the show and I saw Esther in the bottom with her, I knew Esther was a goner. They were both pretty bad.

Chris won, which is great. She can be pretty sometimes and I thought she looked good at the end of the commercial. She still doesn't strike me as a model, but she's still there, so good for her.

I'm glad Kayla was able to overcome her issue. I think she's in good shape for F3.

Chelsey did well, but I'm a little sick of her "I have to win" interviews. I think she could make it to F3 or F4.

Jane was just meh this week. She's a pretty girl, but I don't think she's the whole package.

Venice looks beautiful! I need to go there some day.

^Darn, why did I click this thread and read your post? I just remembered that I forgot to watch last week's episode b/c it was pre-empted by the Bulls game. ](*,)

Oh well.

So Esther was sent home, and Ann was finally dumped in the bottom 2 for not being able to deliver a commercial.

Seems like all is going to plan indeed. lol

Kayla FTW.

Moe, the whole Bulls game pre-empting Top Model that reminds me of something funny my bf said to me yesterday. He said "You don't like Glee. Are you sure you're gay?" Instead of responding with something sexual, like I have in the past I said "Well, I like Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, and Queer as Folk, so yeah, I think I'm gay."

I definitely see Kayla as an even more serious contender in light of Ann's non-surprisingly bad commercial.

I'm sorry I spoiled the show for you though. I hate it when that happens.

Even though I like Liz I know she won'r win. Like Moe and some others have said The F2 will probably be Ann and Kayla. Does everyone else feel that way?

I knew Liz was doomed the moment they showed her crying after her phone call with her daughter, lamenting how much she missed her. Anytime they show the single mom contestant in that condition and using those words usually means she'll be on a plane to be reunited with her child by episode's end.

But I didn't get why the girls were forced to wear those hideous looking wool turtlenecks during panel...in the middle of summer. :( *sighs* Tyrant won't be satisfied until one of these poor girls drop dead from all of the ridiculous set-ups she places them in. :##:

I thought all of those things.

MoePhoenix7 said:
Or Chelsey and Kayla. Ann seems to be falling apart more and more as the competition wears on. And that's usually the case when girls start off the competition so strong (or at least, Tyra & Co thought she was strong, I on the other hand didn't ) begin to feel the pressure of staying strong. They run out of things to do on-set. They begin to worry more about finding a pose that will impress the judges than encompassing the mood/themes of the shoot. And that's what happened to Ann this week, I believe she was so worried about being the bottom 2 last week that she went into the photoshoot thinking about producing a great shot for panel. And that thought process/her fear of getting sent packing read across her facial expression.

I think she's in trouble as well. I think she's too worried. She did well when she got praise, but once that stopped, she started to doubt herself and I think it really screwed her up.

MoePhoenix7 said:
Ann's not cut out for this and it's safe to say that she'll bomb just as badly at the go-sees like she did for the commercial (her runway walk is as ghastly as ever). And with Jane having a meltdown during the shoot with Nigel, it'll probably be between her or Ann that goes home. As previous cycles have shown, Tyra will allow a girl with an exuberant personality but has zero potential as a model, coast to the top four. Chris will certainly cost if she manages to pull off a decent photo in next week's shoot. I doubt she will but I also doubt she'll go home over Ann who is all the more certain to get the worst feedback from the designers (was it me or did I see Gianni Versace as one of the go-sees? (*S*) )

I missed the preview. I was starting to think Jane was improving.

I absolutely :luv:ed the photoshoot this week. So editorial and ravishing. Kayla, Jane and Chelsey completely won me over, easily some of the most beautiful captures of a girl Top Model has ever taken. And next week's shoot with the girls posing as silver statues looks just as exquisite. :D[/QUOTE]

I liked this shoot. I thought Kayla killed it.

I was upset that Liz went home, but I think it was her time.

Off Topic: St. Vincent and Kid Cudi doing a duet on Jimmy Fallon? For real?

Bye Chris! I agree with ALT, she can be the next Wanda Sykes LOL

Jane's probably going to go home next, poor plain Jane.

It's funny and Ironic how Nigel keeps saying that Ann is un-bookable because she has no personality, and yet out of all 5 of them, she was the only one that VERSACE wants to book for both Campaign and Runway Shows.
