America's Next Top Model Cycle 16

It's that time of year again.

After an anticlimactic cycle, I can't say I was super excited about this cycle. I didn't like how Tyra tricked the girls, but was glad they did away with the casting episode. I also wasn't a fan of the over the top bubble runway water deal. Other than that, the episode was okay.

My initial impression of the girls this season was that they are young looking, but it could be because I'm getting older. Thankfully there doesn't seem to be a lot of bitchiness, but who knows if that will develop with time.

I didn't get a clear view of the runway walks like I usually do because of the bubble, but overall I thought the girls handled it well. Sara's walk was just as horrendous as I thought it would be though.

As far as the pictures go, I thought Molly knocked it out of the park. The only thing I didn't like was her nose, which seemed a little stubby to me. Alexandria also did well. Brittany's was cool, but I wasn't sure if I really liked the oddness of her eye in the picture, but that wasn't her fault.

I didn't like Nicole's picture, but I thought she looked okay in it. Mikaela looked draggy to me.

As to the bottom two, I agreed with the judges, but I'm not sure if I would have sent Angelia home, as she had a look that intrigued me.

I have no idea. It needs to get better to stay in the game, IMO.

You can tell that IMG and Vogue Italia are using more of their influence in the casting and overall direction of this show. The selection of girls this cycle look more fashion-friendly than any of the girls of cycles past. I mean Dalya, Brittani, Ondrei and Hannah look like they were literally pulled from the runway of a major designer's show. I'm stunned as to why they're bothering with this show at all and instead at the doors of some agency.

btw - for all the boys who don't already know - moe is THE ANTM expert on JUB. great hearing from you again, mr phoenix!

these girls are amazing, which sucks because after cycle 15, i lost complete interest in the show.

i used to watch it religiously (moe knows), but nowadays, i'll catch a couple bits of one episode then another a few weeks later.

i just feel so betrayed by the show as a whole that i no longer feel like investing in it.

anyway, i still don't know who's who, really, but i do like molly quite a bit.

but for sure, IMG and vogue italia have really upped the level of high fashion in this edition.

i think all the girls are 100% more modelesque than last cycle.

^ totally, yeah i'm with you. every time i catch it, it's just because it's been out of habit.

i'll probably try following it a bit more as the show progresses. it always gets more interesting once they go overseas, so i'm sure i'll be following it more closely then.

At some point, probably relatively soon, I may update the individual pictures. I don't always catch it every week and have to get caught up because my boyfriend doesn't like watching it and it's on against Survivor.

I'm really loving the girls this season, but Tyra is going OTT on the runway stuff. First bubbles, now fire?

The commercial idea was a bit hokey to me.

I'm glad Molly was able to rise above that weave. I'm a little stunned that Tyra would allow such crap to be done, but it may just be for ratings.

And I still can't get over Ann's horrible Covergirl photo when it's shown when Tyra talks about the prizes for this year.
