Amish Experiences, Myths, and Misconceptions

I live in Pittsburgh, and my grandparents live in the middle of Amish country. It's pretty much walkable. The curtains in the windows, horse and buggy in the barn, the folks out in the feilds, I know the whole deal. They're actually pretty nice, but me and a friend of mine got dirty looks while we were walking down their dirt road one day, so we started holding hands and cuddling. I shit you not, the mother covered the daughter's eyes and ushered her inside, lmfao.
 
The Amish have always been high on my list of "good" people. Their actions after the murder of five of their children last year only served to solidify my feelings. They offered their prayers and forgiveness to the man who committed the murders. If that doesn't qualify as "living a good life," I don't know what does!
 
Here is a rather curious blog entry I just found about someone's first (and apparently only) visit to the Tally-Ho, the only gay bar in Amish land.

I've been there, and taken horrified friends from out of town for the spectacle. If you have an Amish fetish, you will see the occasional Amish farmboy sneak in and lurk in the shadows. No, really!
 
Does this thing about technology includes medicine? I can get (at least don't complete disagree) someone that don't use TV or Internet, but if you are talking about health and medicine it is complete stupid to use out dated methods.

Also, just to make clear the obvious, how much homophobic they are?

Amish village, they made the most amazing plate sized doughnuts ever.

Yea, its all about food for me. :)
