  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Amsterdam....seriously... :( Amsterdam...

This time it was Amsterdam, a city where I once had one of the best anonymous sexual experiences of my life...(one guy in that city will always have a very special place in my heart).

But it can happen anywhere...New York, San Francisco, London, Munich, etc...

You can't live your life in fear.

The other places you mentioned (perhaps with the exception of Munich) are much more dangerous to be in than Amsterdam is.
People (not just gays) do not so much live in fear as that they are aggrieved at having to put up with this kind of thing.

In the Amsterdam city center the police are everywhere these days, so most places you would want to go are quite safe.

Harke, I did feel quite safe in Amsterdam, and was treated quite warmly by the people there. I would go return to holiday there in a heartbeat! :D

no...its not me...I live in California. That is someone who was attacked during today's event.

attacked by whom exactly ?
dutch police . dutch people or Moorish people whom live in dutchland ?

It's surprising to hear about a march to stop gay bashings in Amsterdam.

I live in Amsterdam. I wasn't at this rally, but I was at the last one. (couldn't make it because my sister insisted on renting a canalboat to celebrate her birthday).

The violence they're protesting against is mostly perpetrated upon them by citizens of North-African descent.
Incident after incident occurs with Moroccan nationals (they never lose their passport when they become Dutch citizens).

The irony is that the guy in the picture was supposedly beaten up by two Moroccan women during/after the protest. The mainstream media have declined to mention the background of the 'ladies'.

I was thinking these bashing are mostly happening with people from another culture. This is not only a gay bashing but also a culture clash in this globalized world. Were the women arrested for this? Ironically I think they wouldn't hesitate to bash anyone else who didn't fit with their "ideologies".

Anyway, anyone can pick a fight with anyone else- no matter what their sexuality- anywhere over the slightest reason. In some parts of the world you put you life in danger if you're of certain religion- or even an "uncovered" woman. We can't live in fear, we can only live.

Zackar, he was attacked by two North African women. Not the police.

While it's not unheard of for Muslims to attack/molest homosexuals for religious reasons, it's probably more due to the trailerpark mentality of these people who immigrated to Western Europe than anything else.

There seems to be a wierd [STRIKE]triumvirate[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]tripartisan[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]triangle[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]tricycle[/STRIKE] division into three in the Netherlands.

1. Immigrants

2. Homosexuals

3. Far-right groups

Does the far-right hate both the other groups in equal measure?
Does mainstream opinion accept both groups in equal measure?

Can you be pro-gay and anti-immigration?
Can you be anti-gay and pro-immigration?

Acceptance/hatred of the two seems to go hand in hand.

Yet I have SOME sympathy with the far-right views on immigration, but none on their homophobic views.

What's ironic is that many immigrants to Europe despise gays as much as the far-right who depise them both do.

You don't know that much about Dutch politics do you? I'm afraid you are so far off, that it's hard to comment.

It's true - I'm not familiar with Dutch politics at all.

So that being the case, why is it so difficult for you to address my points, instead of you resorting to the stupid cop-out avoidance tactic of launching glib one-liners at me?

*I'm in a rare combative mood tonight*

Shush!

ChickenGuy is a semi-chaste near-virgin raised unblemished by modern society in a remote monastery up in the heartlands of Scotland.

He has ...other uses.

Just so long as it doesn't involve fisting. This is one chicken that doesn't like being stuffed. [-X

*hides Crisco behind back*

You're not the only one who doesn't understand what's transpiring in continental European politics, it seems that half of the old political elite don't seem to understand either.

The nation claims itself to be gay-friendly but lets these kind of stuff pass by? No shit.

Seems that the gay glory atmosphere in some European countires has slowly diminished...
