LONDON (AP) — Amy Winehouse's father says his daughter has lung damage from smoking crack cocaine and cigarettes.

Mitch Winehouse told the Sunday Mirror newspaper Amy has early stage emphysema and has been warned that she will have to wear an oxygen mask unless she stops smoking drugs. Mitch Winehouse said Amy also had an irregular heartbeat, in an interview published Sunday.

Winehouse collapsed at her north London home Monday after signing autographs for a group of fans and was taken for tests at a London hospital. She has remained under observation.

This is so unfortunate, but it is her choice.

I actually have a co-worker who has been told that hes at risk of getting emphysema because of smoking cigarettes. I really hope she pulls through this stage of her life and figures out how to fix things.

Amy Winehouse says she has nothing to live for

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse insists her problems with drugs and alcohol stem from "boredom" and feeling like she has "nothing to live for".

In a rare interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the Back To Black hitmaker reveals that after her husband Blake Fielder-Civil was jailed on charges of assault and perverting the course of justice in November 2007, she felt like her life wasn't worth living.

The Grammy award-winning singer subsequently cancelled her U.K. tour and ended up in rehab in an attempt to kick her addictions.

She was also treated at a London hospital for traces of emphysema last week.

And Winehouse blames her downward spiral into drink and drugs on her current unhappy state.

She says, "To be honest, my husband's away, I'm bored, I'm young. I felt like there was nothing to live for. It's just been a low ebb."

But the star insists that although she was treated at a London clinic in March, she doesn't feel like she has fully completed a rehab programme.

She's a strong British female. She'll emerge from this current low ebb stronger than ever before i'm certain of it. I think the press have made a bigger deal out of her drug taking than it actually is. She's said she just likes to get hammered occasionally when things are getting her down. I bet most girls her age in the UK do the same on a regular basis.

I'd have more sympathy for her had she not said she said 'I'm bored. That's why I'm doing drugs.'

There are a lot more people going through worse things and they don't act the way she does.
