It looks like she's having a serious depression. I'm sure once they treat her emotional condition, the issues about drugs and alcohol will be much easier to deal with.

I totally agree with that. There has to be an emotional reason why she is driven to drugs and alcohol.

It was revealed that she has some sort of lung condition this week. If she doesn't stop smoking and doing drugs she'll die (what a surprise, no one was expecting that).

She's supposed to play at two significant concerts this weekend. Medically, she's apparently able to perform, but she'll probably just get pissed like she always does before performances.

Don't get me wrong, she's an incredibly talented woman, but she really needs to sort out her life.

She needs to make friends with Mel Gibson. I'm sure they'll have great discussions on race relations while he sobers her up.

I read that her father provided the info, but I didn't know he had made it up.

He probably cooking it up as a cover for her upcoming performance at Glastonbury this weekend. When she performs shit, they can just blame it on her condition. :rolleyes:

It's a common thread in popular music. Good art often comes from the edges. The problem is, of course, that people often fall off that edge. I think people need to accept that, and - more importantly - come to grips with it. Because I think it's a bind that musicians find themselves in. If Kurt Cobain had sobered up, and turned (say) to sunshine-y pop (that's not to say it WOULD have happened, but I think it certainly COULD have), most people would have reviled him for it. He would have been surrounded by people holding up copies of In Utero saying "We want more of THIS."

But in the end, I think the human life is more important than whatever art they bring into it. It may be that Amy Winehouse sobers up completely...and doesn't ever come up with anything very good ever again. At that point, people should be happy - better her a sober crappy musician than an strung-out, on-the-edge good one.

Amy is the definition of a hot ass mess, but she's so talented. Love her...only she can get away with what she's doing and sell so much records. The only artist that I laugh at while their performing, but I still love their music.

Her performance at the EMAS and MOBO Awards last year was a shameful MESS. Can't understand what the hell she's singing in either!

Those energetic dancing backup singers and her slurry words make the weirdest, most awkward and hilarious contrast. :)

I think she stuffs it up her sleeve so once she comes off her high and is all "what the shit is going on?" she finds it and is all " OMIGAW A SURPRISE!"

I just think she's a fucking lightweight. Can't take her ale. After half a shandy she appears blotto. My mother has the same problem. Stick to water love, you might get somewhere.

Actually, she seems to me to be a pretty good rendition of a "hot tranny mess*".

I'm not a huge fan. The fact that her biggest claim to fame for most people is that she is such a dope fiend rather than her (IMO) mediocre talent is telling of what makes someone a 'celebrity'.

She seems to treat rehab like a trip to the spa...A weekend away to get pampered, detoxified before returning to life as usual - trashed and dirty.

The woman is a train wreck. Anyone who is wondering how her story is going to end could just read Edith Piaf's bio for a clus: Dead in her forties of liver cancer. (Or some other self-induced nasty ending.)

*a more colourful way of calling someone a 'hot mess', itself a way of calling someone a mess. The added colour of 'tranny' and 'hot' takes the edge off of calling someone directly a 'mess'.

Watching the actual performances are amusing; I have to admit, the first time I saw Amy perform Karaoke with Charlotte Church months ago, I was cracking up, especially towards the end of the second verse. However, the reality of what is really happening with her as a person is not amusing; I've seen this story before, just with a different person.
