Amy Jade Winehouse (14 September 1983 – 23 July 2011)

Amy Winehouse - Love Is A Losing Game

Re: Amy Winehouse...In Remembrance

I miss her so much i listen to some amy almost everyday.

Re: Amy Winehouse...In Remembrance

That is a bit extreme.

Anyway, "love is a losing game" is an interesting statement.

Not really, I do too... Her music is genius but given that I have 200 tracks by her on my iTunes, I guess it's bound to come on during shuffle :)

Amy Winehouse - When Is It Too Soon To Make Fun Of A Tragedy?.....
I don't know about making fun but the sight of that wretchedly unhealthy, dirty body must be a deterrent for those who want to destroy themselves with cocaine.

Re: Amy Winehouse - When Is It Too Soon To Make Fun Of A Tragedy?

It's an interesting question. I have a real fondness for irreverent jokes and dark humour but am well aware of ethical concerns. I have heard jokes about dead celebrities that have made me chuckle and, like the writer of that article says of himself, I don't think that makes me a bad person. All the Amy Whinehouse ones I've heard have been limp and obvious (Rehab references etc.), if I heard or thought of a clever one I don't think I'd hesitate to use it.

Re: Amy Winehouse - When Is It Too Soon To Make Fun Of A Tragedy?

I think joking about anyone's death is distasteful.

Same here! I always have my mp3 player on and since I shuffle everything and have a gazillion songs of Amy, its inevitable.

Re: Amy Winehouse...In Remembrance

Miss Amy! Happy Belated! Still playing those two marvelous albums.

Re: Amy Winehouse...In Remembrance

Born 30 years ago this month, Winehouse seemed more intuitively connected to Black soul than other White pop stars in her wake

Amy Winehouse was arguably one of the decade’s strongest, most nakedly expressive singer/songwriters. Just 27 when she passed away July 23, 2011, Winehouse was a five-time Grammy winner whose multiplatinum Back to Black (2007) reinvigorated a (mostly) British remake/remodel of American soul music. The trend continued with the ubiquitous ascendancy of Adele, herself a progeny of a rich lineage of White (mostly Brit) artists including Annie Lennox, Lisa Stansfield, George Michael, and the late Teena Marie—all of whom easily crossed over to Black audiences.

A statue of Amy Winehouse has been unveiled in Camden, London (High Barnet would surely have been more appropriate) on what would have been her 31st birthday.

She lived in Camden and loved it so much that she always talked about it in interviews. The statue is prety ugly, but the fact that they did it to remember her genius is such a wonderful thought!

There is not a day passing without listening to something from Amy, she had the wit and the voice to die for!

"Peter Doherty has shared a somber black-and-white video for "Flags of the Old Regime", his new single which pays tribute to Amy Winehouse. All proceeds from the song's sale benefit the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which works to discourage drug abuse in young people."
