  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

An Honest Question

People have their accounts deleted to send a message that they're not happy about something.

They're afraid that if they just stop posting, no one will notice that they're gone.

Exactly, I had my account deleted, but since I wasn't popular no one even noticed, when the people that recently had their accounts deleted it made a deep impact on the board. I rest my case when I say that the ones who deleted their accounts this week have made an impact and people are noticing it.

B21........I missed you when you left...............

Yes we have........I hope they return............

but you have to ask yourself, Brandon

if you want people to remember you for something...

is that really what you want to be remembered for? quiting because you didnt get your way?

i don't think that there is as much of an impact as you seem to think. there are still threads and people are still posting. there seems to be just as many people browsing the different forums as usual. its actually kind of high volume for the sunday of a holiday weekend.

everytime we had one of those goodbye threads, everyone acted like it was the end of the JUB world and yet two days later we were all back to normal posting as if it never happened.

We all need to remember this. I haven't been here as long as some, but longer than many others that have made a signifcant impact to this community. Yes, I said community, because that is how I see it. I don't like to see members leave just like others; especially those that have gained the respect of many for their wisdom and opinions, even when they differ from a lot of us. Life has many ups and downs and those that leave have their own reasons, which is not for us to judge. Hopefully the recent departures will find a reason to return, but at the same time, the rest of us are still here and we need to continue with what has made Jub what it is in the first place. Just my opinion here, which I'm sure differs from many since this place has grown and become even more diversified since I have joined.

I don't know my decision was totally different from Bradlee and Hoody. Yeah a lot of people were abusing the goodbye threads, because people were making goodbye threads to go to the bathrooms, or goodbye threads. Yeah I know, like people told me give it a week and people won't even know the people existed.

Yes, they are going noticed...but are they making a statement by deleting their accounts...or are they simply just going away and are done with the site?

If they are just leaving for personal reasons...then I support their choice to go and wish them well, however, I can't help but assume that a statement is trying to be made, in which case, I think it an odd way to make a statement. I'm not sure I fully understand what that statement is...which to me is counterproductive to making a statement. Seems better to stay and voice your concerns and protests...get the word out and rally the support of friends and other members to the idea that there is/may be a problem and work on a resolution than to just give up and go away. As Andreus originally posed as the topic to discuss...
I honestly don't get what having your account [deleted] accomplishes.

any ideas or insights that i am missing? :(

As I said earlier...I don't get it either...my 2 cents.

I also don't get why people have their accounts deleted... just don't come back... there are people who have their accounts deleted, come back, get their account deleted, come back, whats the point?

I will definetly miss hoody heaps as well as the other few who have gone this week.
