I had a pilonidal cyst that burst at the start of july and it's not hurt since but there's still a scar/hole from the burst and apparently surgery causes high risk of return so i never took this option. But i'm wondering now, can i have anal sex and it won't hurt/make the cyst come back?

There's no connection. The cyst is more related to hair follicles and has no connection to anal sex.

If you have a recurrence, you should consider the surgery even though it is a rough surgery.

Definitely!! I had it done some years ago .. it was a pretty uncomfortable recovery but it solved the problem!

I agree totaly with ozguy. I had the surgery in 1980 when I was in junior high school and have not had one problem since then. It is not related to anal sex at all. The recovery for me was not pleasant, but well worth the result. In my situation, the cyst would fill with some kind of fluid/puss and was the nastiest smelling thing I have ever experienced, plus it was painful to sit.

Bottom line, no pun intended, have the surgery.

well, it burst months ago, so there's not really anything to have surgery on haha. there is like a hole/scar type thing that emits puss though, don't know how that would be fixed.

Occasionally, pilonidal cysts do get inflamed and rupture and then go away.

But on guys who are hairy, they also tend to recur. Even worse, they can form tunnels under the skin and that's the point at which surgery becomes necessary.

So, keep an eye on it and if it starts getting inflamed, see your doctor.

I had the surgery summer 2009. Now I have a big beautiful scar on my ass, but hopefully it will continue to fade. They did a closed excision and the recovery sucked.

Yes, I'm very hairy.

That's exactly what happened to me. The surgery involved cutting into the infected area and basically cleaning it out. Then the wound had to be stitched up, after which a big wad of gauze padding was placed over the top of the wound (between my butt cheeks) and stitched to my cheeks to stop it from shifting and to protect the area from secondary infection. It was very painful and uncomfortable for several days after the op, but within a week it settled down and after about two weeks I was as right as rain!

That all happened nearly 30 years ago and - touch wood - I've never had any recurrence.

Most uncomfortable (and undignified!) experience of my life. Had mine almost 7 years ago, and luckily never had a recurrence - glad I had the surgery though, but apparently it was so big there wasn't much option, my gp sent me straight up to the hospital to have the op that day

mine is a tiny tiny little open wound, but when i go to the toilet sometimes it can bleed aswell which i find strange, and it's generally seeping something which smells abit. i'm going to the doctor this week but can't see what they'd do if the cyst has already burst and i've not had a recurrence. i don't want the surgery as apparently it's worse having surgery as it flares up again lots.
