IBS does pose a challenge because of the unpredictability of the cycles of constipation and diarrhea.

The usual recommendations apply- avoiding a big meal beforehand, fiber, avoiding foods that might be allergy triggers like milk, gluten, etc.

If he's in one of those periods where it's a problem, then an enema isn't going to cause any harm if used infrequently and in a small quantity. However, be aware that because of the irritability in the intestine, sometimes enemas in IBS and colitis can make the situation worse with increased cramping and increased hypermotility of the colon.

I find that eating a banana a day prevents loose stool very effectively. I have IBS, and that totally works for me.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is not fully explained but can be considered an autoimmune disorder. The colon has spasms (contractions) that can be painful. According to WebMD, "Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS affects up to 55 million Americans, mostly women. IBS causes are unknown. IBS symptoms include diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal cramps. There are IBS treatments such as diet and lifestyle changes and medications that can help."

Yeah but the issue is anal sex may aggravate IBS with all the friction caused on sensitive tissues?

Oddly enough, in IBS/IBD there is not the level of irritation that one would see with Crohn's or with colitis. The problem with IBS has more to do with motility- both constipation/sluggishness where stool does not empty from the colon and with loose stools that can result in "leakage" during anal sex. In some people IBS is cyclical- alternating cycles of constipation and diarrhea- while others may have a predilection for one over the other.
