And I thought the Republican Party was dead and gone.

It's the truth, Chance.

Two years ago the Democrats upsetted because they'd won in traditionally Republican districts.

The fact that those districts voted Republican this year is no surprise. It was all expected.

EDIT: my OH says he thinks the Russ Feingold loss was an upset.

two years ago the american public suffered from bush-fatigue - it was time for a change

had pres. obama managed these 2 years properly, the repubs may have gained a few seats - maybe not

instead he has managed an agenda that is not consistent with his "mandate"

Had the stimulus money been put into real infrastructure rebuild ........ then he could defend it as money well spent - not wasted - and it would have created jobs

Had he not been so in a rush to "make his mark" with Universal HC - a proposal that is full of holes and that the american public loathes ironcally enough "universally"

had he put a leash on speaker pelosi who took her oppty to govern HER agenda at the expense of her now defeated colleagues and us

had he simply governed responsibly

this would not have happened

had the tea party not sprung out of nowhere and invigorated the opposition to the sitting president/congress/senate ..................

the repubs were dead in the water - no inspiration - few ideas other than "we don't like obama"

a major league blown opp for the dems to maintain control of the agenda

but it went to their heads

and they fucked up

and the tea party arose

and ..............

do not tell me or anyone with a str8 face that this was expected

cuz it's fantasy land

feel bad about feingold but his polling was bad for a long time - he got caught in the wave

Thank God my state's politicians are relatively normal. Very little mudslinging and no one goes over the top.

Read the constitution and tell us where it makes the Health Care Reform legislation unconstitutional.

Quite simple, actually: there's no authorization to require people to buy certain things.

Of course things like the DoE and the DoE aren't authorized, either, along with a lot of other things. I'm not entirely sure there's authorization for the CIA.

Even the party intellectuals like David Frum said after the elections that the Republican Party is lost because of the T-Bag influence, which is losing them the young, the gays, the immigrants and the urbans.

In the 2008 election 19% of gays and lesbians voted Republican.

This year 31%

Not exacting "losing" them, are they?

Also elected were several black, latino, and female GOP candidates. And (unlike the Dem's) the black candidates who won were in predominately white districts.

It's hard to say, NineofClubs. Exit polling, especially in the mid-term elections, is notoriously unreliable. In fact, several of the polls showed Sharron Angle at a small lead.

We'll have to wait and see.

Probably the number of gays and lesbians who vote GOP is even higher.

How many people are going to tell a total stranger, an exit poller, their sexual orientation?

It's the result of CNN exit polling.

Just read the links....

Well um... I can't find that on the CNN site. Just the "GOProud" site.

GOProud being the gay group who also called Anne Coulter the "conservative Judy Garland" and paid her an untold sum to tell a bunch of gay conservatives that "you don't deserve civil rights... you're not black."

A very trust-worthy group.

I'm sure it's on the CNN website, somewhere.

But are you more comfortable with the Colorado Springs Gazette?

What about those of us who voted a split ticket?

I vote Democratic for most big stuff, but I think Republicans are generally better for law enforcement. As such, about six of my votes were for Republicans (judges and so forth).

Where does that put me?

Well the results I linked to were related to votes for congressmen/congresswomen.

I'm sure some gays vote straight Dem, but occasionally cross over for one reason or another. Even you. :-)

Probably in the doghouse here ;)

I'm sorta similar ................. scary isn't it?

Only good thing from the Republicans they will keep Obama Spending in check.

Fair enough. Here is the 10th Amendment.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Now please find for us all, where the Constitution delegates to the Federal government, the power to require me to purchase health care insurance, to remain a citizen in good standing.

You apparently have an inadequate understanding of this governing document. It is a list of negatives, prohibiting the government from engaging in any activity not specifically enumerated as a duty of the Federal government.

I think you got it backwards. How many out gays are too ashamed to admit that they voted Republican?

Yes, I must have an inadequate understanding of the constitution, me and every court that ever ruled on the right of the government to enact statutes not specifically enumerated in the constitution.
