And Let's not forget about the other Deplorables

We certainly do. The CRTC governs the standards for electronic media. We have very generous freedom of the press here.

But you aren't allowed to lie and call it news. Or use hate speech.

It is why FOX wasn't permitted to start a channel in Canada and why they still might lose their place on basic cable after the hearings and submissions are completed.

We also have the publicly owned Canadian Broadcast Company which is required to be fair and provide equal time. It does a pretty good job of it.

But we also have too many people turning to US cable players like MSNBC, CNN and FOX, whose content is not regulated.

Pat Robertson dead and gone to hell.

Trump indicted.

And Ken Paxton's sugar daddy in jail.

More Republicans behaving badly:

An ex-Rhode Island Republican councilman found passed out in his car while holding a crack pipe has been busted again — this time on molestation charges involving a 12-year-old girl.

Matthew Reilly resigned in disgrace from the Cranston City Council when cops discovered him last month lying back in his car seat — blacked out and mouth agape — after someone reported he was “literally choking.”...

Reilly was charged with first- and second-degree child molestation sexual assault, and enticement of a person under the age of 16, police said.

They're coming for John!

John Eastman, an architect of Donald Trump’s last-ditch bid to subvert the 2020 election on Jan. 6, is about to go on trial — but not in a criminal court. Rather, the attorney is fighting to save his California bar license from authorities who say he repeatedly breached professional ethics — and possibly the law — in his bid to keep a defeated Trump in power...

:rotflmao: If John thinks the California Bar is going to save him, he's delusional. MAGA, once again. At this rate, there will be no lunatic lawyers left to work for Kanye.

If he manages to keep his license...it will be the worst signal to bad faith lawyers out there working for those who would overturn democracy.

It always depends on the State where they are licensed. California tends to be pretty aggressive on both admission to the bar and disbarment.

There's a few States where you have to be convicted of a felony or do something really awful like commit felonious perjury or steal money from the estate of a client to lose your license. Even then, they might just "suspend" your license. :##:

These horrible people...

Roid rage? Or just another asshole?

A Russian-American anesthesiologist and her physician husband, an Army major, are accused of contacting the Russian embassy offering to provide the medical records of high-ranked military officers.

Dr. Anna Gabrielian and her husband, Jamie Lee Henry, both of Rockville, were indicted in September 2022 on allegations they illegally shared private information with the Russian government. Dr Gabrielian is an anesthesiologist at Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Henry is an Army major with secret security clearance who worked at Fort Bragg and Walter Reed Hospital.

...U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointee, convicted Harris of all charges, including obstruction of an official proceeding, civil disorder, assaulting a police officer, and various trespassing and disorderly conduct crimes. Harris faces a potential 20 years behind bars on the most severe charge of obstruction. Sentencing has been set for Sept. 27...

Here's hoping he gets the maximum.

Why we can't have nice things:

The Press is condemning the transwoman but since when it is appropriate to run around with your shirt off when you're invited to the White House?

That's far less crass and offensive than running around with your AR-15. Moe boobies fewer ammosexuals.

I wouldn't whip out either if I were a guest at someone's house.

The difference is that conservative media wouldn't be outraged at an AR-15.

Not being invited to future events does not equal "banned". Somehow the meaning of "banned" has been lost very recently.

"Conservative media" is going to invent things to be outraged about anyway. Fact or fiction.

"Conservative media" just invents things to be outraged about, and they would most certainly be all up in high dudgeon if it was a Black man and a Drag Queen toting around an AR-15. "Conservative Media" is also the crassest, and most deceitful and dishonest kind of hypocrisy.

And I'm perfectly happy to see conservatives clutch their pearls over gay people being free-range on the White House lawn during daytime. There's been decades of breeder events at the White House. Get used to having some more diversity.

But like the Pride parades, acting like your mama didn't teach you how to behave in public just gives the haters fuel for their fire.

Southern Baptists only want male pastors. Those male pastors can have affairs with female congregants or molest children and the Southern Baptists will ignore the problem for decades.

But women as pastors- no way.

The vote was 9,437 against and 1,212 in favor of allowing female pastors.

The decision expels two churches from the convention. One of the expelled church is Saddleback Church in California which was founded by Rick Warren (author of the "The Purposed Driven Life") which has about 25,000 members.
