I do think though that even the oligarchs are going to abandon the current toad, their money is also on the line in the dystopian chaos of Toad's vision for America. A vengeance state is not a functioning one, and they will suffer from it too.

What's propping Toad up and enabling all the Mini-Toads like Miss Hawley and Ronda is the massive amount of dudgeon advertising they get when they say something wildly offensive. They get free coverage of that from every quarter. Why would any of them stop? That is not news. It tells us nothing new or relevant that Toad is offensive, crass, vulgar, and vindictive. There is no need to plaster him everywhere on every channel, 24/7 every time he starts ranting.

All that does is normalize the fringes WHO ARE NOWHERE NEAR a majority and inflate them into a real problem.
 
It is all about eyeballs though. The media has no problem giving the Devil the microphone if he sells soap.

And in the background, there must still be some serious bigger backers investing in Trump. I never believe the Thiel types when they say they are pulling money out of politics.

A big test is to see what the RNC does with their war chest. And whether at the national level the biggest donors will care.

As for the GQP major donors, a lot of them might look to plunge their money into buying judges and going after more grass-roots races that will benefit their interests on a more local level.

Or they will focus on getting their choices for Senate and Congress through the primaries.
 
They'll abandon Toad as soon as they think there is a viable alternative.

I'm going to say it again, and I certainly could be wrong. I think he is smart, and staying out now to keep a Trump target off his back. But, if Trump, for whatever reason (indictment, jail, health, death) is out of the race, watch out for ultra-fascist Tom Cotton.

Also.......if Trump becomes the nominee, I can potentially see a Trump, Cotton ticket in 2024, so he is staying quiet now for that reason too. It is Trump, rather than Biden, who is more likely to not fulfill a second term, and Cotton could be positioning himself there, and for 2028 as well.

Again, I could certainly be wrong in all of this, and I hope I am. But Cotton has the brains and speaking ability to deceive and bring in the middle, where Der Santis doesn't. Cotton is far more dangerous than people realize.

If someone else gets the horde nomination that's the best-case scenario. Everyone - including the horde, who are paying lots of money to promote the spawn of Kennedy are so sure that he'll be some kind of a nuclear third-party spoiler, when in fact he's really just not - but it's the 'Pubby scenario that's the bomb. What the Toad would attempt to do to the 'Pubs if they don't nominate him would dwarf any kind of revenge he's currently pursuing.

DeSantis has chosen a losing strategy by being so in-your-face about the pet hates he is using to court Trump voters for 2024.

A lot of venues in the US hadn't had time to cope with cancellations of international conferences when Trump was prez because of his trade and Human Rights abuses before Covid basically killed the biz....

The moment it showed signs of coming back....De Santis forged a cudgel and made Florida more like Branson...a haven for red-necks but anathema to everyone else.

He has no personality to carry off his nasty campaign...so why not try to throw a Hail Mary pass and use the hated 'media' and 'foreigners' for his failures.
