And Let's not forget about the other Deplorables

Just posted in the 'Deplorables' about this.

Always accuse others of something that someone in TrumpCo. is guilty of.

I am surprised though that the paymasters that can find tons of money for whatever Trump thinks of, haven't just paid this off to keep her mouth shut even tighter.

Tough call...but Slotkin knew that at least half the Dems would vote against Bernie's bill...so her using the opportunity instead to talk to Colbert's audience was probably a more useful approach.

Because no one will really ever hear about the shameful votes of the 27 Democrats in the Senate to continue giving arms to Israel.

I agree.

But I'll also say the quiet part out loud. Slotkin is Jewish and is active in Jewish political organizations. It would not have been an easy vote for her.

She also dodged having to have her vote on record so it was definitely a cynical move on her part.

Slotkin has made some clear statements on getting aid into Gaza and on the humanitarian crisis. She hasn't been as skillful on the issue of issue of American-made weaponry used to level Gaza.
@12:30

Slotkin has been getting pummeled on both the far and left for her interview with Krystal Ball on the issue of Gaza and the evasive non-answers she gave in that interview.

The Senate vote was symbolic, so there wouldn't have been much point in having her on the record- she would have gotten constituent pushback either way.

I'm not a fan of performative votes or virtue signalling but the purpose of the vote was to send a message to Israel, or more specifically, the Israeli politicians on the far right including political chameleon Netanyahu, that there's not unanimous support from Congress for what they're doing. It might not make a difference since Netanyahu will do whatever is needed for him to stay in power, even if that means slaughtering a few thousand Palestinian women and children.

But cutting off weapons supplies to Israel won't save the people who will die of disease and starvation in Gaza. And at this point, Israel has used American bombs to level Gaza. It was all deplorable and America has sat on the sidelines and watched it happen, so America is as deplorable as Netayahu. And even more deplorable, the Trump Administration and the Republican Party is putting defense of Israel over the American fundamental value of free speech by punishing anyone who dares to defend Gaza and Palestinians.

Slotkin and the other Dems need to be persistent and loud and in everyone's face about aid and cutting off Israel's unchallenged access to US weaponry and funding.

If Israel knew that it ws not guaranteed whatever it asked for, it might begin to behave less like a rogue state and more like a partner in creating a balanced solution for Palestine.

Unsurprised.

In the Ted Cruz deplorable action of the week...

NY Gov Kathy Hochul attended the funeral of the NYC police officer shot by a gunman last week. The police officer was Muslim, so the service was held in a mosque. Sen Ted "Cancun" Cruz had to comment.

Cruz is a Dominionist, whose father is a far-right evangelical minister, and he doesn't have any problem imposing his own religious beliefs on everyone.

Another poster pointed out that Ted knows better and he has no problem donning religious garb when he's begging for campaign money ...

There were actually accommodations that were made for the public service. A corpse is considered unclean and it isn't brought into the mosque, so the funeral is not held in the worship area of a mosque like it would be in a Christian service. The service is held in a separate area and then only men enter the mosque for the prayer portion of a funeral. Both Gov Hochul and NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, who is an observant Jew, were present at the service. Tisch, also wore a head scarf, as as women should do when entering a mosque.

Not satisfied with the explanation, Cruz had to get in the last word... mansplaining about "the rights of women". There's no bottom that Cruz won't seek out.
