Rep Hunter was charged with misusing $250,000 in campaign funds for personal expenses. He and his wife were living far above their means and were heavily in debt when they:
  • Used campaign funds to buy clothing at a golf club which he wrote off against his campaign as "golf balls for wounded veterans".
  • Used campaign funds for lavish family vacations.
  • Used campaign funds to pay for groceries, cigarettes and family shopping trips.
  • Used campaign funds to pay for drinks and hotel rooms for assignations with lobbyists, Congressional aides (assignations is a nice word for fucking women other than his wife).

He voted to prevent gay people from adopting children. He as a 0% rating from the Human Rights Campaign.

^ Of course, if he avoids a quick trial and/or prison, Nearly every Republican will vote for him.

Within the bounds of having their preferred candidate, any Republican candidate who has successfully avoided a long prison term completely draws his base out to vote. They LOVE corruption...because it benefits their party.

Not saying the Democrats (and the national governments of nearly every other country in the world) don't also do this, but the Republicans have also entirely "aced" the idea of running on hate and low information.

The higher up in the power/ruling structure, the more inevitable this is. However, only one of the parties has perfected their own total moral corruption (and the Dems are still working on it), and the apparatus to put it into effect. Those two things have entirely merged.

In his final days in office, former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin issued hundreds of pardons and commutations to people he said he would not hesitate to welcome as neighbors, co-workers or members of his church.

The pardons largely drew shock and outrage, not only because of the sheer number or apparent political motivations, but also because some involved violent criminals, including convicted murderers and rapists.

Still, Bevin, a Republican, further enraged critics when he said during a radio interview Thursday with WHAS in Louisville that he pardoned a child rapist partly because the hymen of the 9-year-old victim was still intact.
