The Republican governor, elected in 2020, spent the past workweek galavanting in Tuscany, Italy, as his constituents battled some of the worst floods in the state’s history, reports 8KPAX. Now, after at least four days away on a “personal” trip, Gianforte’s office confirmed the governor is expected back in the capital city of Helena sometime Thursday night.

The damage may already be done for Gianforte, however.

Montanans were kept in the dark about his whereabouts for days, only alerted to his absence—not just from Montana, but the entire continent—when reporters noticed an executive order declaring a disaster was signed by Lieutenant Gov. Kristen Juras on Monday and not Gianforte himself. The governor was also absent from all official briefings about the floods.

Gianforte was previously a member of the U.S. House. He came to national infamy for body slamming a reporter in 2017 because he didn't like the questions he was being asked.

^^ As the summer progresses toward the November election, we are going to see more and more Brownshirt violence directed at minorities, and anyone who does not support the Fascist takeover agenda. The fall of Roe v Wade will justify, in their minds, that violence works. If the [STRIKE]republicans[/STRIKE] fascists take over Congress, the Brownshirts will effectively have been given "permission" and will organize further into more cohesive, violent, and dangerous paramilitary units. Legislative insurrections are already taking place in 28 states in the form of voter suppression and vote nullification. The same Nazi deception patterns as occurred in Germany in the 1930s, are happening here. The next two years will be the planning and propaganda ramp-up to the next insurrection and coup, whether that coup be done through vote manipulation without firing a shot, or another violent Capital attack if the Nazi party loses.

The Fascist Apocalypse has already begun...but most people ignore it, just like they did in Germany.

Over the weekend, I was talking with a friend about the Dixie Chicks incident that happened about 20 years ago, where they made a comment during a European performance about George W Bush. They received death threats and were effectively "canceled" by C&W radio.

That was a hint of things to come. These days, everyone gets death threats. Celebrities, politicians, public health officials, judges... basically anyone in the news. And because of our laws, unless the threat is "specific", it's considered "free speech". :rolleyes:

We were at a place where people were told to ignore the death threats... well, until they made a traffic stop on a guy with an AR-15 on his way to kill Fauci, until a guy showed up at Justice Kavanaugh's house...

Florida was the only State to not order COVID-19 vaccines for children under 5 years old. The DeSantis family has three children - ages 5, 4 and 2. Shortly after giving birth to their youngest children, Mrs DeSantis was diagnosed with breast cancer and completed her chemotherapy in Jan, 2022. No word on whether the DeSantis' two youngest children will be vaccinated. Given Mrs DeSantis immunocompromised risks, hopefully they will be vaccinated.

As for the rest of Florida's children and immunocompromised family members... well, they'll have to go find a vaccine on their own (and pay for it out of pocket if they don't have insurance).

DeSantis said Thursday that the "risks outweigh the benefits" of vaccinating young children. Studies have affirmed the safety of vaccines, and health experts have been very critical of the Florida Department of Health's previous recommendation against vaccinating healthy children between 5 and 17.
