And Let's not forget about the other Deplorables

To Senator Cotton's credit, he was on TV yesterday denouncing those who were in Congress literally fundraising by internet DURING the insurrection, probably referring indirectly to Hawley.

You're welcome to claim he's knocking out his rivals, but I believe he meant it and it was from his military service.

Cotton knew what the toad was and didn't come to Jeebus until the toad's crazy threatened him.

Cotton is a smarter fascist than the others. He's just building up an appearance to bolster a fake reputation of integrity for 2024. Cotten is an intelligent, articulate and more clever Trump. He's going to be a big problem in the future.

I still think he is sincere in his views, which, as history has proven over and over, poses far more of a threat than hypocrites do.

Say what you will about his views, his denunciation of the insurrection was not fascist and he did not vote to object to electors from the losing states.

The devil is sincere in his views too. It's a mistake to trust Cotton. He's trouble. DONE.

The NE trope that all the throwbacks are Southerners is a fallacy.
Consider that I'm from one of the bluest-of-the-blue state (Illinois), and yet the southern reaches of the state can give the "Trumpiest" parts of Oklahoma or Alabama a good competition.

Criminals...shouldn't be punished for their crimes after their sentences.
Not to mention that, in a court of law, a defendant's prior criminal history, even if the same type of crime, is inadmissible as evidence.

Another fine Floridian, Adam Johnson, is on his way to jail. Aw. Why no smile for the mugshot?

Boy, is gray ever NOT his color. Is that some gene on the same chromosome with the ginger hair?

Why do you restate the issue. Who's "trusting" Cotton here? I don't support him politically, but that doesn't mean everything out of his mouth is some cynical lie. Not every conservative is a demagogue or charlatan.

Trying to paint them with one red brush is part of the problem of our divided country. As long as that is happening, it only gets worse.

That is why I'm pessimistic about our odds of survival. I don't see any more virtue on the left than the right, only a different box full of fighting flashpoints, and no more desire to respect the opposition than the conservatives.

That was actually my chief point about Cotton. I saw the video of him in a town hall meeting in 2017, and he was truly respectful of the people foaming at the mouth for his blood. That takes integrity.

That's a rather isolated rule, as once the jury convicts, the prior record is absolutely relevant to how much time a criminal will receive.

Law enforcement in Florida has been busy the past couple of days.

Tampa Bay man arrested in connection with Capitol riot, police say [Tampa Bay Times]
He is one of three Floridians among the 14 people arrested Wednesday, according to U.S. Capitol Police.

A Tampa Bay resident was one of the 14 people arrested Wednesday after supporters of President Donald Trump stormed and vandalized the Capitol, according to Capitol Police.

Matthew Council of Riverview was arrested on a federal charge of unlawful entry, according to the agency.

Two other Floridians were arrested on the same charge Wednesday: Michael Curzio, of Marion County, and John Anderson of St. Augustine.

Michael Curzio - he was previously arrested in 2012 for shooting a man over a dispute involving a former girlfriend:

Derrick Evans, the newly elected member of the West Virginia House was sworn in last month. He thought it would be a good idea to participate in an armed insurrection at the Capitol.

He resigned today.

He's also a terrible liar which meant that his prospects as a politician were going to be limited.

West Virginia GOP state lawmaker who allegedly stormed US Capitol has resigned [CNN]
Derrick Evans, the West Virginia state lawmaker who was allegedly among the rioters who stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday, resigned Saturday.

"I hereby resign as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, effective immediately," he wrote in a brief letter addressed to West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice...

Evans, a supporter of Trump, recorded a Facebook Live video in which he can be heard shouting, "We're in! We're in, baby!" while moving among a crowd of rioters as he walked through a doorway of the Capitol...

Evans said later Wednesday that he had filmed the event only as an "independent member of the media to film history," though it does not appear he has any experience working as one.

On Twitter Saturday, Sen. Sherrod Brown accused Republican Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Ted Cruz of Texas of abetting insurrection, calling for their resignation and – if they do not step down – their expulsion from the U.S. Senate.

The Senate will not discipline its own any more. Those days of honor and censure are long past.

If the constituencies of the bad actors don't recall them or defeat them at their next elections, then it will be just more of the same.

We literally don't have anything to stop David Duke, Adolph Hitler, or Louis Farrakhan from being seated once elected.

On Twitter Saturday, Sen. Sherrod Brown accused Republican Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Ted Cruz of Texas of abetting insurrection, calling for their resignation and – if they do not step down – their expulsion from the U.S. Senate.

More importantly, there's a groundswell of voters in their own States that are talking about getting rid of them.

...We literally don't have anything to stop David Duke, Adolph Hitler, or Louis Farrakhan from being seated once elected.
It's not the Dukes, Hilters and Farrakhans that are dangerous. They're easy to recognize.

It's the Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley types that are the ones that are worrisome. They are well-educated men who have no moral compass and who don't acquire power through accomplishment, but instead of use lies, deception and treachery to gain power.
