It's good old-fashioned pork barrel legislation. It's been a while since we have seen it but every politician (except for loons like Rand Paul) loves taking pork back to their home districts. Senators especially love pork. :)

I'm actually more concerned about the Progressive Caucus who seem to be taking up Republican minority mathematics. They have about 90 votes in the House and they are likely to try to use those 90 votes to hold the legislation hostage to pursue an agenda that they don't have the votes to pass. If they do sabotage the legislation, they will join Ted Cruz in the "murdered on the floor of the Senate" popularity group.

It's interesting. All of these populists are from affluent families. They went to the best schools. Hawley went to Stanford and Yale. Cruz went to Princeton and Harvard. Paul went to Duke. Yet, we're supposed to believe that they're "men of the people" defending the little guy against the woke leftists? Huh?

Your question is probably rhetorical but there is an answer: gerrymandering.

The district is NC-11. It's home of several colleges and universities, including UNC-Asheville. Asheville is a liberal college town and the area's most densely populated area and it leans Democratic. When the districts were redrawn after the last census, Asheville was split down the middle to dilute the Democratic vote. Before the 2010 redistricting, the district was 55% Democratic in most Congressional elections. After redistricting, Mark Meadows won by 60%.

We got Cawthorn because Mark Meadows became the Orange Supremacist's third (fourth, if you count Mulvaney) and final Chief of Staff.

Cawthorn lied throughout his Congressional campaign. The press covered the lies and exposed him as a liar. However, the district is so well-designed by gerrymandering that Cawthorn carried it by 55% in 2020.

Because Cawthorn looks at his predecessor's stellar career and his future prospects as a highly-paid employee of Fox News, after the election Cawthorn immediately started hiring "comms people" for his office staff instead of constituent services.

Deplorable.

Hi cyber reveal event was literally just a never ending My Pillow commercial. Another one who figured out that the only people stupid enough to buy his shit cheap pillows are Trump's poorly educated and that his whole business model now rests on selling to this crowd as a political act.

While sexual depravity knows no party especially in New York city it seems, 99.9% of it is from the GOP. It always seems to be those family values types as well. I believe it all boils down t one thing. Religion! When you are being told to repress your immoral desires, and innermost feelings all your life, you never get to let your freak flag fly.
