And Let's not forget about the other Deplorables

I had never even heard of him until the last couple of weeks here on JUB.

I would normally think this was a parody of himself or a sense of humor but I don't think he has one.

Assuming he is serious This "tweet" above petty much shows anyone paying attention or has a working brain who he is. No explanation needed.

I'd never heard of him either, but judging from what he says - raging, delusional, douchebag; and as usual fucking whiny B****.

I suspect he has nothing better to do.

I can guarantee he has no sense of humour or self parody. He didn't get permabanned from Twitter for no reason.

It is his totally unbalanced and reckless psychopathy that led to his arrest...all as a result of a Twitter feud with Greta Thunberg. Once Elon let him back on.

This guy literally thinks he is a god.

Ahhhh....it just clicked.

I know this type of guy and lots of them over the years from working in the club. Although I tried to avoid them I used to sometimes get stuck waiting on them and have them seated ion front of me for hours talking on crystal meth.

He sounds like some of those guys.

Oh yeah. We've all seen them in clubs and bars...and sometimes end up actually having to work with them.

Although few are as psychotically delusional as Tate.

But social media allowed him to amplify his voice and to hook a lot of really fucked up younger guys (incels) to believe in the bullshit he was spewing. It was like Charlie Sheen in his most cranked days...or what we recently watched with Kanye.

...The outcome of any appeal to the S.C. is impossible to predict.
It's on Uncle Justice Thomas' wishlist:

Whether some party is playing politics and pushing an agenda, I don't know. I think however that I can confidently rely on the greedy with JDs, like a pack of hyenas bringing down a wildebeest.
In the current level of frustration that many of us are experiencing with glacial pace of justice, we are becoming fans of the methods of hyenas.

I always come back to...

Who the fuck is paying off the Uncle Thomas?

And at his age, does he really think he is going to cash out big time before he dies?

He has the mentality of the "House Negro."

Internalized racism. From his wife to his politics, he's "...one of the good ones..."

Thomas is a Catholic conservative activist who got onto the Court. His outrage that his porn habits got disclosed during his confirmation hearing just pushed him further to the Right. Thomas didn't get paid off, he was the price of the payoff. The Religious Right wasn't happy that Reagan wasn't enacting their agenda. It's the reason that the Reagan Administration didn't withdraw his nomination. The price of the evangelical vote was to replace a Black liberal with a Black ultra-conservative.

Reagan had to have known about Thomas' alcoholism, his affairs and his other personal issues that happened before Thomas' divorce from his first wife.

From 2003 to 2007, Ginni Thomas was paid over $100,000 per year by the Heritage Foundation- income that Clarence Thomas did not disclose on his annual financial disclosures. Ginni Thomas has a "consulting firm" called Liberty Consulting that has an undisclosed client list and undisclosed income from those clients. It is known that Mrs Thomas was very active "consulting" for the Tea Party, anti-Obamacare and pro-Trump organizations.

He doesn't have to cash in. Ginni did it for them both.

@TX-Beau, it's hard to click "like" on these posts only because the content is so infuriating, but you've been on fire today. Bravo!

I can't stop grinning about the fact that the pizza boxes lying around in the pics Tate tweeted while battling with Greta led the Romanian police right to him.

I've read more than once that Fox desperately wants to settle in order to keep all this damning info out of the public eye -- and that Dominion is hell-bent on going to trial in order to get all this damning material into the public eye.

Yes, Dominion wants as much media coverage as possible of the evidence of Fox News knowingly operating as the propaganda arm of the Republican Party's right wing.

I think the legal process we're seeing might be, in effect, a slow-motion version of the way those hyenas took down the wildebeest. Too slow, for our tastes, but still ...

Clarence Thomas ...

Past a certain level of prosperity which he's long since reached, I really don't think Thomas is motivated by money. He is motivated by rage.

I think that KaraBulut described the situation well (except that it was Poppy Bush who nominated him the SCOTUS in 1991). But it's not just that his porn habits were exposed, it's exposure of the way he "courted" women like Anita Hill, and fury over the fact that he wasn't smoothly confirmed like almost every justice before except for Robert Bork. (Remember how he called the hearings a "high-tech lynching"?) All that certainly pushed him further to the right.

Underneath that is not just internal racism but insecurity. I think his hostility to the very idea of affirmative action seems too driven to be simply the desire to pull the ladder up after himself. He hates affirmative action so much because, deep down (and maybe not so deep), he can't escape the suspicion that he's only gotten where he has through affirmative action, from his admission to the Ivy League through his nomination to the Supreme Court. (And he's probably right.)

Add to that residual anger from his upbringing by a grandfather who was an incredible hardass, and you have the hot mess who's been a Justice for decades and makes Brett Kavanaugh seem easygoing and even-tempered.

And I think he left so much of Ginny's work and the income from it off of his financial disclosure forms not because of greed, but because he knows perfectly well that it's wildly improper for the spouse of a Supreme Court justice to be a political activist of any stripe, let alone a hard-core right-wing seditionist. And even though all Washington knows about it, he doesn't like putting evidence on paper.

The Thomas hearings were a trainwreck.

Thomas had only served on the Court Appeals for a year when was nominated for SCOTUS. He is another example of an originalist, anti-abortion justice who was placed on the DC Court of Appeals to put him in the running for a SCOTUS vacancy (the same pattern for Bork, Scalia, Kavanaugh, et al). Prior to this, Thomas had been a Senate staffer and later had been appointed to various "equal opportunity" related positions- a Reagan-era tactic of appointing people to positions who held opposing views to the laws they were supposed to be enforcing.

One of the things that was disclosed after the Thomas hearings was that other women had come forward and offered to testify that Anita Hill's experience matched their own. During Thomas' time working in Washington, he had sexually harassed other women and they confirmed that Thomas had a drinking problem.

When HBO did a film about the Thomas Hearings, "Confirmation", The other women were represented by a single woman and Biden was blamed for not having the other women testify in the hearing.

Behind the scenes, Republican operatives were at work trashing the reputations of the women who had accused Thomas of sexual harassment. One of those operatives was Ann Coulter. Another was David Brock. Brock later came out as gay and switched sides to become a Democratic operative.

In David Brock's 2002 book, "Blinded By the Right", he disclosed that while we was working on the smear campaign against Anita Hill, he knew that Hill was likely telling the truth about Clarence Thomas. He learned from several people that during the time Thomas was working in DC, he was a heavy drinker and he had been having affairs when he was married to his first wife. Brock also had several people confirm that Thomas had been renting porn videos from Grafitti, a DC-area video rental store which supported the testimony of Anita Hill and the other women who were never given the opportunity to testify against Thomas.

One of the great mysteries of SCOTUS is how Thomas has been allowed to remain on the Court after it became apparent that he committed perjury during his confirmation hearings. The evidence also points to Thomas sexual harassing multiple women that were in his employ during the time he was a government employee.

Is it really a mystery though?

The US legislative branch is terrified that impeaching a sitting justice would de-legitimize the Supreme Court. And of course now, he is protected by the fact that so many of the SC nominees apparently lied about Roe v Wade. If the US Supreme court is seriously damaged, it effectively could destroy the American standing in the world. Same reason why, at the end of the day, the US is not going to do anything about Trump, the insurrection or the stolen documents. It doesn't want to expose itself as a failing Republic.

It is why they didn't convict Trump during impeachment. It would have damaged the dollar and US standing.

The reality is that the richest and most powerful people in the country, who helped make sure most of the conservative judges were appointed likely interceded to make sure that the senators and congress reps they own don't make a move.

They would prefer to go along to get along, making deals and getting rich.

I don't know that I could equate the "I ❤️stare decisis" game to sitting in a chair under oath, saying that a woman was lying about sexual harassment and claiming under oath that you didn't do what she said and you didn't talk about Long Dong Silver, etc.

If you or I were caught perjuring ourselves, we'd be under investigation and possibly sent to prison.

It's bad enough that Thomas was a sexual harasser. But how can someone who perjured themselves about sexual harassment be considered appropriate for the highest judicial body in the country?

If there were a do-over, the allegations about Thomas should have come to light during the Appeals Court nomination process when Thomas was put on the DC Appeals Court to replace... wait for it... Robert Bork.

It is why they didn't convict Trump during impeachment. It would have damaged the dollar and US standing.
The first impeachment, perhaps. The second impeachment was after he had been given the boot and after he fomented an insurrection against the certification of an election by Congress.

It's really a measure of how low we've sunk that we have to distinguish between which of the impeachments we're referencing. 🤦‍♂️

Each time I look at all of the SCOTUS hearings since Bork, I'm reminded about how many hours of work and how many millions of dollars have been put into putting "originalist" justices into the Court to try to remake the Court into the image of multi-millionaire donors and evangelical activists. And these same evangelicals have to nerve to talk about "grooming"?

These Court-tampering PACs and their front groups like the "Federalist Society" start looking for candidates in the top tier law schools. They get them into internships with Federalists judges. They get them nominated to Federal Courts. They funnel money to friends and family members of the justices, including the wife of the Chief Justice. They wine and dine them and give money to the Court's "historical society".

The opinion polls about the Courts indicate that the American public doesn't agree with the tampering that has gone on with the Courts.

At this point, rehearing the Thomas witnesses would provide both an accountability for a Court that is falling in reputation with the American public and it might also provide penance for Biden to correct the perception that he gave Thomas a pass on the sexual harassment accusations.

Oh... put a pin in this for future deplorable discussions about getting favored cases in front of Uncle Thomas:

^ Oh we all know Uncle Thomas has an intention to gut marriage equality...he just has to figure out how to do it without overturning Loving V. Virginia.

Or maybe that is how he will get rid of Ginny without a divorce.

Last night, Mitch McConnell fell at the Waldorf Hotel and is in the hospital receiving the absolute best healthcare possible, at a fraction of the cost because US Senators can choose a Gold plan from Obamacare and receive federal subsidies covering 72 percent of the cost.

Ironic that a man who had polio as a kid and had his care paid for by the government doesn't think that others should have the same care.

I don't wish him ill because of his accident, but I also hope that this hastens the end of his ability to serve in the Senate. He'll just get replaced by another Republican, but it will set the cat among the pigeons for the leadership of the GQP.

Oh, it's not impossible that McConnell could be succeeded by a Democrat. Kentucky has a Democratic governor, after all. It's unlikely, but not impossible. We just need to find candidates who can actually connect with people on the stump and on TV rather than candidates (like Amy McGrath) whose qualifications seem, on paper, like they'd appeal to a conservative but can't actually connect with people.

What no one is really saying is that McConnell has post-polio syndrome. The syndrome occurs in about 1/3 of the people who get polio. Post-polio syndrome begins to show signs decades after the initial infection and recovery. McConnell has had a series of falls- at home (including one where he broke a shoulder) and others in public where he face-planted.

I noticed earlier this week when he spoke to the press about the Tucker Carlson Alternate Facts Show, McConnell seemed a little shaky and unstable. There were about 3-4 members of the Republican leadership standing behind him looking like cats eyeing a canary. I'm not sure how much longer McConnell is going to be able stay in the Senate or in the leadership.

Mentally he's fine but he's working in a building that requires a lot of walking and he's increasingly showing gait disturbances and unsteadiness. I keep expecting him to start using a cane or a wheelchair. I also have a vision that the Republican Senators will find a Borg solution to preserve his head on some sort of android body. ;)
