And Let's not forget about the other Deplorables

While I am sure that there are also some real life scumbag pedos out there who are not right wing...again, the common bond is a pathological lust for power and control....and it does seem as though this is more of a small 'C' conservative kink...and often tied in with a domineering patriarchical and hierarchical religious world view.

Alexander is one of the worst....and I have this feeling that like so many other barely closeted cases...he thought that by being in politics...it gave him a sort of immunity.
I'm still not seeing any news in the way of charges. This country is so exhausting.

Meet Kent Stermon. Stermon was a major donor to Ron DeSantis. As a reward for his money, Desantis appointed him to the Board of Governors, which is responsible for Florida's public university system.

Stermon shot himself in the head.

Apparently, he asked an underage girl to send him a picture of her breasts in exchange for Taylor Swift tickets. When the girl sent to pick up the tickets at Stermon's office, he insisted that she show him her breasts in person. The girl refused and told her father what Stermon had done.

Stermon decided that suicide was a better option than going to prison.

‘Mickey’s Freedom’ act urges Disney World to move to North Carolina

North Carolina is just as bad.

She switched parties, after being elected as a Democrat, giving the Republicans a veto-proof majority, the anti-trans bills started.

Disney gets to take its money and get out of the South.

Disney can't leave the South though.

Their reason for being there was climate and demographics which allows for a maximum season.

What they really have to do is get serious about changing the politicians.

More of the new normal: Republicans who can't stay away from young'uns.

Apparently, Texas felt the need to actually pass a law to prevent giving alcohol to minors because one of their own diddled with an intern.

Texas lawmakers are looking to crack down on people who give alcohol to minors after one of them was accused of having sex with an intern and drinking alcohol with her.

The state House voted unanimously Wednesday to increase the penalty for giving alcohol to a minor, and a state senator filed a bill Tuesday that he said ensures the "maximum sentencing" in such cases.

The Texas Tribune reported earlier this month that state Rep. Bryan Slaton, R-Royse City, was the subject of an internal House complaint that he had an “inappropriate relationship” with an intern who was under 21. It has since been revealed that they are also alleged to have had “sexual relations” at his Austin apartment in late March. The Tribune also reported, according to someone who works in the Capitol with direct knowledge of the incident, that Slaton drank alcohol with the intern...

..State Sen. Drew Springer, R-Muenster, announced he was filing a bill to ensure that any lawmaker found guilty of giving alcohol to underage staffers and interns is “given the maximum sentencing if convicted.”

I don't even know what to say, except another pathetic fuck who thinks he is somehow protected by position and influence.

What man is so desperate that he needs to see the tits of a 16 year old girl...or the cock of an underage boy? That is a pretty high level of frustration.

And thank goodness she refused. He didn't want to see her tits. He wanted to rape her...she was just being groomed. This was all about power over someone young.

And again, no drag queens or trans persons were involved.

Glad to read he shot himself.

The fact that he shot himself probably means there was more.

Disney can't leave the South though.

Orlando is a wet, swampy, mosquito-infested sweatbox between May and September. With climate change affecting the coasts and hurricanes hitting the state repeatedly, Florida might not be the tourist mecca that it once was.

Disney originally planned 2 hotels and the 1 theme park (the Magic Kingdom). It was all the special treatment from the State of Florida that gave birth to the 4 theme parks, 2 water parks and 31 hotels that are there today. They did a big downsizing during COVID (something on the order of 2,000-3,000 employees were RIF'd), so they do have the option of using that as an opportunity downsize for the long term.

Looking at the success of Branson, Missouri, Disney does have other options. The problem with the Southern states can be best described as "frying pan or fire". They all seem to be on a race to the bottom.

The Democrats seem to be absent from the discussions. If they had a clue, the Democrats would be doing all sorts of "We  Disney" propaganda and saying that they'll put Disney back in charge. Florida's Democratic party needs the money.

(Among large cities, before the pandemic I think we were safer than any other big US city except El Paso, which isn't that big.)

If it were not for Marty Robbins, would anyone outside of West Texas even know of El Paso??

Obviously typed by someone who doesn't live anywhere near the United States.

Corrected for accuracy. The banning of African American history, the constant exposure of GOP pedophiles, the anti-gay legislation, I'll say it again, republicans could start smoking crack and having an orgy in the middle of a session and dems would politely and quietly smile and wait for them to finish. Like, it's weird at this point. Do you NOT want the country to know your opponents are bigots, neo nazis and sexual predators?

Totally a race to the bottom....Missouri would be as bad as Florida, if not worse.

Florida is still Spring Break and snowbird vacation country for a lot of families...It just is time for Disney to start cultivating support where it didn't in the past when it was trying to skate above politics and trumped up culture wars.

Branson would go nowhere for Disney, it's too cold in the Winter. Disney wants to be a place where people can be warm when it is cold everywhere else.

The GOP House here is insane.

They introduced another bill to legalize brass knuckles.
They introduced a bill for security improvements and requirements for metal detectors in schools, but the bill provides zero funding to actually do it.
They completely defunded all public libraries in the budget.
They have 15 bills targeting anti LGBT rights.
They passed a bill to allow guns on public transit and in churches. Just last week, someone fired a gun on the metro train, but we need more guns.
They passed a bill to require all schools to have bulletproof windows and doors, but with no funding for it, of course.
Missouri rep Mike Moon says 12-year-olds should be allowed to marry (each other, not adults marrying 12-year-olds).
They want to cut funding for food-stamps and unemployment benefits.
They introduced "an individual right to hunt and fish" into the Missouri Constitution. This would have to be voted on by the public, but I'm sure it has more to with guns than hunting and fishing because actually the Conservation Department in Missouri is pretty good.
They introduced severe limitations on the public's ability to bring to petition for amendments to the state constitution. The only reason Missouri expanded Medicaid is the public, through the petition process, voted it into the constitution. I'm sure that's why. Republicans don't like the public doing things like that. But "democracy" you know.

And...one moron rep got pissed off over getting a parking ticket and introduced a bill to ban all parking meters in the entire state. :rotflmao:

None of this is actual law, though, and most of it probably won't make it through the Senate.
But it shows how utterly insane the GOP is.

And finally, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft (son of W's Attorney General John Ashcroft) is running for Governor in 2024 because Missouri is not fascist enough for him. We need to be more like Florida, Texas, and Tennessee. Like we aren't fascist enough already. He didn't actually use the word fascist, though, he said "conservative"...but you get the point.

More Republican politicians who can't keep their hands off the interns:

Scotty Campbell, the vice chair of the TN Republican House caucus, admitted to having "erotic conversations" with a 19 year old legislative intern after one of the intern's family members provided copies of emails to the House Ethics Committee. Campbell insists the conversations were "consensual".

https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/21/us/tennessee-house-rep-scotty-campbell-resigns/index.html

Tennessee House Representative Scotty Campbell resigned from his seat Thursday following a report that he violated the General Assembly policy on workplace discrimination and harassment, according to a subcommittee’s memorandum and a copy of the Republican’s resignation letter obtained by CNN affiliate WTVF...

“I had consensual adult conversations with two adults off property,” Campbell told WTVF when asked about the interactions, which WTVF reported involved at least one legislative intern. “I did not know that a workplace policy can be enforced when you’re not at work.”

More details were provided by one of the gossip tabloids:
The committee’s investigation revealed that Campbell, 39, made inappropriately crude and suggestive comments to an intern who lived nearby him. According to an email from one 19-year-old victim provided by a family member, after she and a fellow intern entered their apartment building, Campbell later “made comments about how...he was in his apartment imagining that we were performing sexual acts on one another and how it drove him crazy knowing that was happening so close to him.” He also offered her weed gummies and told her how lonely he was, despite her insistence that he stop.

“I told him absolutely not, and he begged me for several hugs,” the email read.

More performance art for the right wingers. We will see if the ten commandments in the classroom get to stay.

Providing a time for meditation as long as it is not guided prayer will likely stand.

I can't wait for to see the fight between the Catholics, Protestants and Jews over whose Ten Commandments get put on the wall.

I'm beginning to understand why Christians kept losing the Crusades.

From your keyboard to the eyes of their God.

I imagine though, that it will be the version that the southern baptist convention supports.
