Not clear on the concept of accused felons (i.e. someone who has been indicted by a grand jury) who are out on bail restrictions. Most accused felons would be a guest of the county lockup, not out playing golf and attending high school graduations.

I think she likely has some really dark shit in her background about hurting and killing animals from the time she was a kid.

Her killing a puppy because she hated it doesn't prove that she can make the 'hard choices' in government...it lays the horrifying nature of her soul bare for all of us to see.

I think this dog killing was put in the book to send one big dog whistle that backfired. Republicans are acting outraged, but they might actually get it.
Time will tell how they handle her.

In my view, you always have to look under the surface at what other message is being sent by these people to be picked up on the radar of their followers.
Trump sends these "subliminal messages" to his brownshirts all the time.

The story, though a real event, I think is in the book as an analogy. The dog is an analogy for how she looks at some people.
It was intended to portray how she would handle "undesirable" people who do not conform, and to normalize the idea of exterminating the opposition.

She "hated" the dog because it was "untrainable" = I hate those people who refuse to conform to my beliefs.
The dog was not a "puppy". = Those people are less than human, they are "vermin".
The dog was not a "puppy" justifies killing it. = Those "undesirable" people are unworthy of life.
The dog was extremely dangerous. = Those non-conforming people threaten my agenda.
I killed the dog to prove I can make tough decisions. = Look, I won't hesitate to drop the Zykon B crystals into the gas chamber, or pull the trigger or switch, or whatever method they choose to use.

This kind of propaganda was all over Nazi Germany in the 30s, comparing one thing or another to Jews, leading readers on to more hate and the "final solution".

Kristi Noem is one sick, psychopath who should be nowhere near government power, and yet she is governor of South Dakota trying to be VP.

The problem was, for her, these didn't seem to be tough decisions at all...it seems like she was on a murder spree that day because something snapped.

Murdering your puppy without remorse was horrific...but then murdering another animal the same day in the same place was just blood lust.

When Noem was confronted on a news program this weekend about her book, the Cricket story and her pathetic attempt to use the Cricket story to try to worm her way into the VP slot on the ticket, Noem pivoted to Biden's dogs biting Secret Service agents. In her mind, it was a brilliant "whataboutism" but to the people who aren't fans of cruelty for cruelty's sake, it wasn't clear what she was suggesting... was Biden supposed to take Commander out to the Rose Garden and shoot him in the head?
